13/04/2016 Q&A

Hello,

most recent Q&A compiled by Edrard and translated by Ivan:

– The German 88mm gun parameters will be rebalanced, but no ETA yet
– The most important upcoming fixes in WoT are the matchmaker, artillery, tank rebalance and same gameplay mechanisms, game performance, multi-core mechanism and vegetation quality
– It’s possible that the accuracy RNG will be rebalanced
– The problem with bigger maps in WoT that was never solved concerns slow vehicles and their inability to drive around quickly enough to make a difference. Other unsolved problems include the fact that there’s not enough time to introduce a reasonable number of big maps in short time and performance issues on weak PCs
– WG will not establish a special department dealing with illegal mods or issuing certificates to legal mods. Such a WG certificate would get hacked very soon
– When it comes to future vehicle rebalance, the developers will not only use small scale changes such as penetration buffs or nerfs, the overhaul will be global
– The Rampage mode is less popular than CW or Stronghold. The income perception in this mode is not good either, the problem was that the mode had too high income rates (artificially enhanced) during testing and the players got used to it
– WG matchmaker will be overhauled from scratch, it will come this year
– The whine about Super Pershing getting ammo racked too often is not confirmed by statistics
– 9.15 release date depends on the testing results
– There are no plans to buff accuracy on the move for the T-34/85 top gun
– There is no rule saying that track links hanging on the armor have to be considered thicker armor zones, it depends from case to case
– German tank side skirts (E 50 E 75 Tiger II) will become spaced armor in the future
– Himmelsdorf is well balanced when it comes to winrates of both sides

The problem was that not every fucking player has 3 fucking tier tens.

Income in Rampage seems to come up frequntly in thr QAs translated here, and the dev’s answer is always the same, “we’re monitoring it but it’s comparable to the income in randoms”

Comparable to randoms is the problem to begin with. Your average WoT player stops earning credits around tier 8, so a gamemode limited to 8+ is automatically going to dissuade poorer players even if you give them all the rentals they could ever use.

The problem was I lost more money playing 1 rampage mode than I did playing 3 tier 10 games in my IS-7 as you have to fight other tier 10s instead of farm free elo against tier 8s that can’t fight back.

    • And a lot of us don’t really care to play/grind to them either. The rewards rarely sound worth the effort in those tiers as the potential to lose money far exceeds that of any other tier in the game. If you want to do CW or statpad that’s the tier you want, but a very small portion of WoT players even care about that aspect of the game.

Rampage is fun, but we are not motivated to play it, we are punished for playing it.

Problem with Rampage is the income. I like playing it, it’s fun, more action paced, and really good distract from randoms, but it’s just not worth it. -40k on regular game. +10k on very good game without prem acc.

Not sure if they fixed the bug with repairs – if you get killed in one tank, you pay repairs for all 3 of them.

This is the only deal breaker for me.
I bet if they changed it so that it’s a way to earn credits, it would be successful.
But after 10 games, when I see 400k credits less, I’m like, fuck this shit. What’s the point anyway.
Won’t get T22 anyway and if I do, it would cost me like 400 billion credits.

        This.

I played it a bit, but it made zero sense to play it. I really liked it, but I just couldn’t afford to play it, simple as that. If your gonna force someone to play with tier 8+ tanks you need to make it so not every single game(ish) is a loss in income. Otherwise people like me who otherwise would play it, don’t.

I like how AW does the PVE income, zero cost for ammo and repairs, but there is a “logistics” fee that you need to overcome. Anything you make over that fee you keep. That would prevent the insane repair bills for the tanks, but still make it so you need to try for your income. Not sure how well this would translate over to WoT’s rampage but in AW PVE it works really well (I think). In both cases your doing WAY more damage than in a normal match so I think it ~could~ work (with maybe some tweaks to deal with prem ammo and stuff).

Maybe, but we don’t the ratio between that. For all we know 10% of the shots have been moved outwards and only 1% inwards. There is also the issue of latency between your reticle and the server reticle. If you even have a little bit of lag, your shots will always land further outwards, but never further inwards.

Only the Russian tanks have the track links that count as armor mounted in a position that is actually helpful.

Give L56 at least 145mm/190mm pen like 85mm D5T 85BM and im ok with it, at least is still have better change to pen OI from the front (VK36 and JPTiger) or more chance to use against high tier (VK3002)

    • Dictator says:

As much as everyone would like that. 132mm of penetration is completely historic. It was more then enough to deal with any Allied tanks during WW2, except the IS-2. But let’s face it, they will never buff it because they rent concerned about Mid-Tiers, because there are tanks like the O-I, KV-2, SU-100, SU-100Y. And the Skoda T-25.

The funny thing is, while it is a correct number, it is a correct number against an angled plate (About 30 degrees). Penetration against straight plate was about 150mm. What is interesting though, is that good number of the soviet guns penetration tables are against straight, not angled plates.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.5_cm_KwK_40 – look here too, and see pen table for 90, and 30 degree. And see in game, witch are closer.

As u wil see, they dont use 90 degree pen, for many Germans gun, and why?

Wargaming says that they do not solely balance using historic parameters. If the gun is underpowered for the game, it is underpowered. As simple as that. The 8.8cm L/56 is not necessarily a bad gun, it is just not competitive against its counterparts in the game.

Yes 132mm may be Historic and accurate

BUT as we know WOT tank mechanics is not accurate is it? after all the 88mm L/56 now faces tanks from post 1950 and newer

        – please remember that this gun is pre 1940 and historically the worst it faced was the T34 and Churchill’s, and Sherman’s into summer 1942 and after that it was replaced and upgraded as now obsolete
(132mm AP penetration is Tier 5 really not Tier 6, and the APCR is very poor against tier 8

and of course WOT now has many tanks that ‘do not’ or ‘have not ever existed except in blueprints’ and most are post 1945 or even more modern to give us ever more in-game tanks

~ or in the WG WOT developers fertile imagination with ‘what they feel is good’ lol

  13. Ares says:

Well, all they need to do, is give germans gun pen from 90 degree angle, and for example: 75 L\48 has 135 Ap pen on 100mm, apc4 176( in game, way less) , 88 L\56 Ap 162, apcr 219. But ofc, only soviet 57 long gun can have 90 degree, or Sherman gun. Its not that hard. I dont know why Germans use 30 degree angle, and all rest 90. Game its not russian bias, its simple anti-german.

Sherman 76 mm gun use 90 degree pen, and have like 125 mm pen, for 30 angle on 500m only 93.

Yea, like how. I just show, how WG fucks Germans guns. Look on stats. On wiki 57 zis 2 has pen for 90 and 60 degree. Look at them. Go to game, and look what pen is closer to game one, that from 60 or 90. Its nothing complex in it. Anti-Germans game, simple as that. Why Tiger 2 dont get space side armor in HD, but in near future, but most Russian have that for long time.

        0

        0
      • atomicemu says:

Nothing complex? Except for every nation using different standards for test plates, range, angle, ammo, what counts as a penetration, how high the probability of penetrating is, etc.
Anti-German? You mean like their projectiles getting impact angle normalization, which was present only in case of Soviet blunt-nosed shells? Or 8.8 cm KwK 36 having higher penetration than 85 mm D-5, even though they were equal? Or that 12.8 cm KwK/PaK 44 has much higher penetration than it should? Or most Soviet guns having worse accuracy than German guns, even though they were equal?

You’re using the anti-German nonsense as a way to justify your own bias, simple as that,

Oh and if you actually manage to show me a Tiger II with Schürzen, I’ll give you a cookie.

if 15mm of track armor is what you think is keeping you from penning you need to actually aim. because its basically only small areas. even if you do hit the tracks its only 15mm more which is well within rngs toss.

      • Havoc199 says:

Or maybe you need to learn to understand how armour works.

Let me teach you my padawan.

Is3 from tal armour 110mm angles so effective 170-180 depending which part of the plate you hit. The outer edges are closer to 200m effective.
The weakest part of the frontal plate is exactly where they added the track armour. Sure it’s only 10 or 15mm in most cases but because of the angle that armour becomes much more effective. 215-225 effective instead of 170-180.

So next time you want to spout your mouth and talk utter garbage think before you speak.

i was thinking about the system used by Steam Workshop for some moddable games (eg: GMOD), where you can “subscribe” (install) mods, and it’s generally patrolled mostly by rabid fans of the games that will flag and downvote trash mods/junk uploads.

because nothing pisses a Skyrim modder more than someone uploading a junk mod.
(one of the primary reason why Skyrim modders use Nexus to mod instead of Steam Workshop is how easy it is to manage mods with NMM compared to manual)

Making Rampage not require t10s would help. Part of the credit problem is that they charge the player repair fees for their exploding t10s, and t10s don’t normally earn credits even in random battles.
I feel that the rentals doesn’t help with the problem.
I personally rather play my t9/t8s on random battles and actually get xp for my grind to the t10s(and occasionally get a bit of profits) than to play rental tanks, waste the earned xp on rental tanks and crews that I don’t care about, and also lose credits.

There’s no reason for me to play. Its fun, yeah, but it burns my credits and it doesn’t actually help in my grind. Why should I play a game mode that burns my credits hard and doesn’t earn me any xp on my grind tanks unless I bring them in(And suffer because non-t10)?
