update_917_1_1920x900

Here’s the list of changes you can expect for the 9.17.1 patch:

Patch contains following updates:

Game Features
  • Removed the Ranked Battles from the client; players will be able to view their statistics on the mode in the Service Record tab.
  • Swapped the Mode and Window Size options in the Graphics window; added resolution options for the Windowed (borderless) mode, which may be useful for streamers who use one screen.
  • Implemented automatic selection of screen ratio; thus, removed the corresponding option from the Graphics menu.
  • Improved vehicle comparison: the new feature allows vehicle comparison that considers perks and skills, mounted equipment and consumables, loaded ammunition, and camouflages.
  • Added a new method of importing game modifications: all content of each modification is packed into a single file
  • Implemented the following changes to the interface elements:
    1. Battle Performance Badges:
    2. – Implemented display of two and more badges for identical battle events. For example, when causing damage to two enemy vehicles with a single shot (or causing damage with shots to two different vehicles within a very short time), the system will display two different badges, instead of a single badge that shows the total damage amount and the vehicle name.
    3. –  If an enemy vehicle is destroyed, players do not need to see a badge with the number of damaged modules in the destroyed vehicle (displayed after the Destroyed badge). The Critical Hit badge, in this case, will be disabled.
    4. – Added the new Wrecked badge (when causing damage to enemy vehicles using the terrain (physics)). Such events will be displayed separately in the detailed damage panel. The badge will be added to the settings so that players can configure its display.
    5. Fire direction indicators:
      1. Changed graphical materials of the damage direction indicators (to “unload” the battle interface)
      2. Added the option that enables/disables the dynamic fire indicator (indicator width changes depending on the amount of received/blocked damage). By default, the option is disabled: fire direction indicators have the same width.
      3. Changed indicator timings and added the animation.
    6. Added additional information into the settings, which explains the principles of some feedback options.
    7. Added information about receiving damage or critical hits to:
      1. battle performance badges
      2. detailed damage panel
    8. Damage or critical hits received from allies will be displayed in the performance badge and detailed damage panel. The performance badge colour and values of the detailed damage panel will be the same for both damage received from an enemy and damage received from an ally (red colour for received damage, orange colour for a critical hit).
    9. Added the shell type into the detailed damage panel. Premium shells will be displayed with the golden colour. The indication of premium shells will be permanent. The battle performance badges and fire direction indicators will not display the shell type. The shell type is displayed only in entries of the detailed damage panel in the following cases:
      1. Damage received
      2. Critical hit received
      3. Damage blocked by armour
    10. Made changes to the options of the detailed damage panel:
      1. Added the option of displaying the detailed damage panel: received damage, critical hits, and damage blocked by armour
      2. Added the option that changes the location of the detailed damage panel: received damage, critical hits, and damage blocked by armour can be displayed to the right of the allied team section.
    11. Improved fonts of all performance badges and damage panel.
    12. Improved fonts and backgrounds for values of the detailed damage panel.
    13. Improved texts in the damage panel settings window.
    14. When all total values of the detailed damage panel are disabled, the detailed damage panel can be displayed (in versions 9.16 and 9.17, when disabling all three total values, the detailed damage panel was forcedly concealed).
    15. For quick-firing guns, the battle performance badges and entries in the detailed damage panel will display the total value of the shot series.
  • Improved the mechanism of arranging Platoon members when the battle is loading (Platoon members are arranged on the map closer to each other\considering map specifics, the number of Platoons.
  • Improved the mechanism of switching the camera to the observer (postmortem) mode:
    1. first, the camera switches to the vehicles of the Platoon members
    2. next, the camera switches between players, according to their position in the team panel
  • Changed tooltip design
  • Added numerical influence of existing bonuses upon the simplified technical characteristics in the corresponding tooltips
  • Visualised influence of the activated equipment (Binocular Telescope and Camouflage Net) upon the simplified technical characteristics in the interface
  • Changed the display format for penetration and damage characteristics of the standard shell from a range of values to the average value in the Garage and in the vehicle preview window. The range of values can be found in the tooltip.
  • Added standard shell indication in the shell tooltip
  • Implemented comparison of shell parameters in the tooltip relative to the standard shell
  • Improved filters of the vehicle panel in the Garage
    1. Added the option of searching a vehicle by name in the filter panel
    2. Added the option of changing the vehicle panel layout from the filter panel
    3. Added additional statistics to the vehicle slot: Victories and Mastery Badge. The statistics is displayed upon hovering over the vehicle slot, and can be disabled in the settings.
    4. Added the option of displaying the two-level vehicle panel: adjustable and minimalistic
  1. Improved the interfaces of the mission informer and mission window
    1. Added informers for tutorial missions for new players
    2. Improved notifications about new missions in the mission window
  2. Removed irrelevant crew bonus components (“nulls”) from the Exterior interface
  3. Performed transfer to the new Wwise 2016.2 version
  4. Extended the functionality and support of the sound modes (source project with structures, remapping possibility, documentation, compilation of an unlimited number of sounds, etc.)
  5. Changes to the Stronghold mode
    1. The Battle for Stronghold sub-mode is replaced with a new one, named Advance, which is still a series of battles in the tug-of-war format with three defence lines, but with a number of distinctive features:
      1. Strongholds cannot be pillaged anymore: in the case of a defeat, the clan will not lose anything. The winner’s earnings will depend directly on the level of their Stronghold
      2. The Stronghold does not need to be defended every day. Battles in the mode are not mandatory
      3. Battles in the mode start at a particular time; the opponent is selected automatically from the queue
    1. Disabled pillage and mandatory Stronghold defence resulted in significant changes in the mode economy. The War Department, which is currently used by top clans that earned their reputation in battles, would be available to a large number of clans, which would result in imbalance of the game economy in general
    2. To compensate for advantages of the War Department, the War Games competition system is introduced, where clans that participate in Skirmishes and Advances will be able to compete for top positions in several categories. The winners will be rewarded with gold, special reserves, and other awards.
    3. Important: The Game Wars will start after the release of version 9.17.1.
    4. The battle room (in both Skirmishes and Advances) can be unlocked for legionaries who will be able to join your detachment (in both Team Trainings and Tank Company Battles).
    5. The list of unlocked battle rooms will be available in the special interface.

do we have the stats for the JPN derp guns?

  2. mredweird says:

Damn, this is a pretty big one.

  3. PCosa says:

Wait, what? Pz.Kpfw. VII is Lowe…

    • Zorin234 says:

Yes the löwe is considered to be panzer7.
The heavyest variation will the the tier 10. (aka the vk72.01k) the tier 8 löwe is named vk 70

    • xCaptainObviousx says:

No, the Pz.kpfw VII is a fake tank unrelated to the Löwe.

IIRC it was a piece of garbage intel created by Nazi-Germany for propaganda/counter-espionage purposes.

      • Nya-chan Production says:

No, it was on drawing boards, but Maus got preference, that is why it never got further. Germany had lots of research branches and resources weren’t enough to try everything.

      • DeadArashi says:

@XCAPTAINOBVIOUSX – yes and no, it’s a fake tank but it wasn’t garbage propaganda intel… it’s based very loosely off the 72ton rear turreted impression of the the early VK70.01 “Leichter Lowe”…

from there WG made up their own armor, armament, weight and said good job their historians who now cry themselves to sleep

    • Nya-chan Production says:

Löwe had several variants proposed, this is the rear turret one (basically VK 72.01K)

      • DeadArashi says:

well, technically it was never specified which variants were mid turret or rear turret… at least not anywhere in Panzer Tacts 20-1. All it says at best is:

“Many alternative designs were considered… including rear and center mounted turrets/engine compartments…”

      • DeadArashi says:

sorry, ignore that.. I completely forget about the 72ton rear turreted “Leichter Lowe” design

    • SpeedyCraft51 says:

There were two designs for Lowe I think. The one we have at tier VIII and this new tier X.

I noticed a Pz.Kpfw. V Berge-Panther Alpha for China. Isnt the Berge Panther an Armored Recovery Vehicle?

    • xxtechmanxx says:

Its the Panther 8.8 with special Camo

    • Rakked says:

It’s the Pz. V/IV. The real-life Pz. V/IV was a Bergepanther (turretless recovery vehicle) with a non-rotating Pz. IV turret added by sPzJgAbt 653, the battalion that brought us the up-armored Porsche Tiger that we have in-game.

YAY, time to rebuy VK A once again 😀

  9. MajorOfWar13 says:

Question? What map is Empire’s Border? Also, why not buff the Skoda T40 as well? It has the same 8.8.

  10. Chuck says:

    Hey,

    Panther
Changed the reloading time of the 7,5 cm Kw.K. L/100 gun for the second turret from 4.4 s to 4 s
Changed the reloading time of the 7,5 cm Kw.K. L/100 gun for the second turret is changed from 4.6 s to 4.2 s

both of these changes are to reloading time? but are not the same?!??

  11. Chuck says:

Ahhh, I want my Pz.Kpfw. IV Schmalturm back!

  12. I am so excited for this patch! Wargaming is rebalancing tanks with unhistorical armor to balance them against broken heat shells! Good grief, just put a cap on the maximum amount of gold you can bring into a game already!

That said, I still like how a lot of my favorite hipster tanks are getting some love TT yay

  13. Vedrano says:

When will this patch come out?

  14. CbrosTheDude says:

Wait, did someone felt the need for a E75 buff in any way? Wtf
And Leo proto now powercreeps amx 30 just like their tier 10 counterparts…

  15. CbrosTheDude says:

Wait did someone considered buffing the E75 a good idea? Wtf!?
Lep proto didn’t need that either, almost feels like WG want German audience back 😛

  16. zeroyuki92 says:

Still waiting for them to buff Matilda IV penetration. 86/102 pen for a slow tank in tier 5 is just ridiculous for a tier V. Even several mm would help very much since for now you practically need to toss a coin to pen an AT-2 when you shoot it at the flattest side of his rear.

  17. DeadArashi says:

still don’t understand why they don’t just nerf penetration and premium rounds… then they don’t need to make the armor of tanks so unhistorical…

actually over the shit that the fuckwits at WG pull off

    • madogthefirst says:

People don’t like nerfs, but they get hyped about buffs. Nerfs bad PR, buffs generally good PR. Any other questions?

      • DeadArashi says:

Every game has nerfs, does it always cause bad PR?

No, because when it’s done right it creates better balance and a more enjoyable playing experience…

It’s just that WG are less then incompetent when it comes to the concept of balance and improving their own game for the better…

      • Type 319 Sharpedo says:

A bad PR doesn’t always entail a nerf. When buffs/nerfs are done correctly, they get good PRs. It’s just that WG Belarusians are naturally stupid for their kind so any hopes of them attempting to properly fix the game are nigh. Buffing the Type 2604/5 will not solve anything because the biggest problem is premium shells. They offer substantial benefits with few drawbacks. The concept of armor could be fixed if WG both nerfed premium APCR/HEAT and restricted the amount allowed into battle. WG doesn’t want to do this because this would entail a loss of income, as no one would spend real money on credits in order to purchase the premium shell. (They would also lose their fanboys who suck up to them in order to receive gold rewards.) Belarus is a decrepit and poorly developed nation (as with many countries between western Europe and southeast Asia) so WG’ll do whatever it takes to stay alive in a shitty country.

      • stormcrow99 says:

Tbh the WoT community has some of the most sensitive followings I’m aware of, and everything that comes is by definition bad PR to the community. So I’d say fuck their feelings anyway, just balance as you see fit, the flak will come regardless of what you do.

  18. Tim says:

when is this patch coming out?

  19. Rombat says:

Very good patch with 2 exceptions…the nerf of the t110e5 and grille 15.

  20. xxtechmanxx says:

I really like that they show some love to the Premium Tanks like the PzKpfw. IV Schmalturm and Panther/M10 the Viewrange is really low for such a Vehicle and the Reload Buff for the Schmalturm and Panther/M10 makes them even more competetive on theire Tier.

So what happens if I’ve unlocked maus but didnt buy it? Is the maus tech tree and up to vk45B going to be unlocked?

  22. mossburger77 says:

I’ve unlocked the maus but havent bought it yet. Does this mean that the entire Maus line will be unlocked and PZVII line up to VK45B will be unlocked too?

    T95 SPEED BUFF
    LETS GET READY TO RUMBLLLLLEEEEEEEE

  25. seb4771 says:

    Happy to see this.

11 of my tanks have buff (finally T34-85M is playable).

But my important question is HD version = have armor buff + no WS ? (AT-7 / T-15 / T14) or it’s just same with big WS (for AT-7, spotted = dead, 99% ennemy shoot = hit + 500 meters…).

  26. Anonymous says:

    I see it’s time to sell Grill15

  27. Han_Y0lo says:

Love how they give a speed “buff” to the Centurians and FV4202p, but don’t change the engine HP. I wonder if the speed will ever be realized w/o a big downhill or tailwind

    • OpaKnobbi says:

In case of the Cent’s – definitely!

Their power to weight ratio ist good enough for that, they reach the 40kph really quick as they are (on flat terrains), and then the “speed governor” kicks in 😛
So they should be able to reach their new top speed quite easily

      • British tanks can’t run a speed governor. Not even sure if they have premium fuel. The speed at least for the fv will only be seen while going downhill. The Centurions have good engines and shouldn’t have a problem reaching their top speed.

  28. Ola112 says:

So.. Can anyone explain to me what happens if you have the Maus researched before the update? Will you get the other “new” vehicles too, or do you have to research them afterwards?

    • You will not get the new vehicles but probably any saved experience on your Vk A and B will transfer over. If you want even the slimest chance of getting free tanks you need to already own the Vk A or B. Wargaming’s history shows them being pretty generous if they are getting in the way of anyone’s grinds but there is no guarentee.

  29. OpaKnobbi says:

They should, because their power to weight ratio isn’t really bad (16,81 for Cent1).
They reach their current top speed quite easily, and then the “speed governor” kicks in 😛

With that removed, they should reach the 50kph quite regularly

  30. madogthefirst says:

These tank changes are looking awesome, though the short 88 buff I consider part of the last one when it should have happened. Short 88 buff and buffs to the Maus I must be dreaming.

  31. nrnstraswa says:

Awesome buffs to the German meds. Just unlocked the L100 for my Panther too.

  32. hernan says:

  38. JakeLives says:

  39. wolvenworks says:

so are they switching to the WOWS update model of smaller, but faster updates? IMHO minsk should do that, but i’m not sure if they’re up to it.

  40. Darkom1973 says:

EMPIRES BORDER!! thats the big chinese wall map coming back!

  41. is it confirmed that Maus owners who have played at least 1 match with it will have the Pz Kpfw VIII, VK 100.01 P, and Mauschen unlocked for free?

if so I really need to grind my VK B and hopefully NA server does a Maus on track soon…

  42. repofox says:

“added resolution options for the Windowed (borderless) mode, which may be useful for streamers who use one screen.”

Well. if you had only one screen, then you would not care of having borderless windowed mode, because you hat to minimize the game window anyway to actually doing anything else than playing.
The real use for it comes when someone has more than just one monitor.

  43. banjoman150 says:

That Maus buff from 200 to 250 is most likely NOT the upper and lower glacis but the slope connecting the front with the sidearmor. Just look at the model ingame or in tanks.gg there are slopes and they are pennable when the Maus is angling. 250 on its frontarmor would be insane.

    • stormcrow99 says:

That would be commendable because tbh tier 10 TDs shouldn’t be able to pen the Maus head on on the UFP but that’d ruin the balance for every other tank.

But an OP Maus would be a fun minigame for a while lmao.

  44. James k says:

    What is the t44-100M

  45. mr_c says:

The Panther II gains the 88/100? Now that does sound very interesting… Same that gold shell increases on the “short” 88s. Makes the gun much more viable for the higher mediums using it.

  46. themustachesniffer says:

    Jagdpanzer IV
Changed penetration of the Pzgr 40 shell for the 8,8 cm Pak L/56 gun from 171 mm to 194 mm

wait since when does the Jagdpanzer IV have 171 pen?

  47. stormcrow99 says:

This update in conclusion will be honey to the community, as if to have a level ground to start building something larger, and overall worse received, like a pill prior to headache.

I have my hopes for WG, godspeed on the new vehicle types.

  48. Vssada says:

If this idiotic game dev put jagtig IX and E75 IX into tier VIII ill quit this idiotic game

  49. 427Arbok says:

E75 buffs definitely caught me off-guard. Didn’t know that tank was underperforming, but, times being what they are, it’s no surprise. Although, the T28, Prot, and T95 buffs look woefully inadequate; those suckers need more engine power to go with that extra speed. Also, no buffs to be found for the M103 or the ST-I, despite the fact that both of them have been power creeped just as badly as, if not worse than, the E75.

RoF buff for the Maus is nice, since I’ve always thought that it would be fitting for that tank to have reasonably good dpm, given its playstyle. Not sure how I feel about the extra E100 pen, though. Maybe it needed it, but I feel like WG should be trying to offer more variety in performance, not eliminate that which already exists.

Panther buff is probably unnecessary, but we’ll see. Panther II buff is welcome, however. I’m very curious how that’s gonna do with the 88 L/100. Should also help with the E50 stock grind.

Bizarre how they’re basically giving the VK 45.02 A the King Tiger’s frontal armor and gun depression. Those two have always been pretty similar, but that’s gonna bring ’em dangerously close to becoming the same tank. VK 45.02 B is an interesting proposition as well. Looks like they’re trying to emphasize sidescraping more with it. Which is what it used to be about. Good fixes. Also, I might buy my 30.01 P back when this goes live. Those buffs look sweet.

Not sure how I feel about the howitzer-Types. Although, I will say it’s unique, and that’s one of the better things about the Japanese heavies, one thing I won’t say bad about them: they offer something very unique.

As to what I feel is missing? Besides what I’ve already mentioned, like re-balancing for the ST-I and M103, engine improvements to the T28 family to make the new top speeds useful, and possibly some additional buffs to the Panther II, I can’t think of much. Unless they want to get rid of the T25/2 and split the Hellcat into two tanks (a tier six with its old agility and spotty scouty tricks and the 76mm and a tier seven with the 90mm and Slugger turret, probably much closer to the old kitty as well), or maybe give the AMX M4 (tier VII) the dpm it needs to actually work as an off-brand Tiger, or perhaps give the DW2 access to the 7.5cm KwK 40… That’s all I can think of for now.

I mean, seriously, I can’t complain. They’re finally getting around to restoring the E5 to its natural, balanced state. It’s like Christmas.

  50. Mister Z says:

In my opinion the buff to the Maus armor is just stupid…you can bounce everything with careful angeling…this makes it just fool proof and takes out the necassery skill….
