The related video on the Vladivostok naval fortress complex introduced me to a new insult. In the section on the 305mm turrets (originally from an obsolescent battleship), the firing process was described. There was one person in the gun crew whose sole job was to catch the spent priming tube in a net on a handle as it was ejected from the breech of the cannon. This person was the “netter”, and the term became an insulting term for someone who shirked their duty while everyone around them worked their asses off.
