WoT Console: IS-3A “Fatherland” Earn Op

From the console side of things, details for their next Earn Operation. The prize this time is the IS-3A (with a perma camo… Because I’m sure nobody wants a plain old premium, right?)

The details for the operation are odd. While previous Operations for free Tier 7-8 premiums have involved doing certain amounts of damage in a certain nations tanks, or points earned for being a top XP earner, this one is seemingly pretty easy:

Do 500 damage in a battle and earn a loot drop. The loot drops can contain Silver, Crew XP boosts or a Fatherland Medal. 5 medals earn you the tank.

What are your guys’ opinions? Reception has been mixed with the console community. Do you feel its too easy for a Tier 8? Too random even?

The tank will also be available in several bundles, ranging from 15,800G to 17,400G.

  1. O_ O I don’t know whether to be upset or overjoyed I play on PC, I kind of wish I could try this event out and get a free IS-3A but at the same time, I have negatively mixed feelings about the “camouflage.” I personally prefer subtle animal schemes like that on the Pz 58 Mutz over this style but this is a tasteful color of red and the front of the tank looks tolerable, just the massive hammer and sickle at the back is terribly distracting especially if you might drive the tank for hours after earning it.

As for the event, I think it looks pretty fun, to do 500 average damage is a relaxing goal and granted you play enough regularly a marathon doesn’t break your back, bingo tier 8 money printer. No excessive nation jumping or absurd skill cap on par with the object 260 personal missions which is good. It probably hurts the event there isn’t a steady progress bar players can see rise to psychologically keep them encouraged. Otherwise, I don’t know enough of much else to make any educated guesses on randomness or ease. Just seems to be a boat ton of rewards for being active which is good.

TL;DR: Mixed feelings about camo, free tier 8 tank is normally worth any marathon. No numbers on the frequency of earning fatherland medals so it’s hard to say if it’s too random or easy.

    1. Yeah the randomness (as a console player) is preferable to conditions which require reliance on your team (which is awful on Console, the skill levels of players and the numbers of players who have never played above tier 5 and have tier 8 premiums is awful.

Ahhh more console and mobile tank crap! Nearly 100% of the ppl who come here are pc users. These console and mobile updates are like filler songs for an AH-ha album or and late release smashing pumpkins album. Whatever happened to all the leaked stuff that used to appear? I think this site is dying a slow death.. 😦

    1. There are actually a large number of console players here. Even before Rita brought me on we’d look here to get an idea of what may be coming in the long run.

And if there is no real news for PC, then there is no real news. Would you rather we just make shit up?

Leaked info! You know what that means right? It means there are updates that are leaakkedddd. Leaked updates make up for info that is not released. Can you get that thru your thick skull? Lol

TBH I can read the official news on the WG WoT website. I don’t need you to repeat it on this blog.
Once uppon a time there was a magical blog revealing all the sh1t our sovjet comrades at WG were throwing at us. But well, nevermind.

Wow Liam, do you actually hear yourself? If the site is “dying” then why don’t you leave it and leave the rest of us who don’t mind seeing what other platforms are up to in peace.
Seriously though kid, you sound like a right little princess.

I wonder how long before WG starts offering German premiums with swastika. I mean if you start slapping symbols of one fascist regime on your tanks, why stop there?

Finally consoles got something interesting! We, on PC keep getting free stuff, events, marathons, and consoles usually get nothing!

    Oh, wait

Well, we in NA do get marathons, discounts, and free consumables, boosters, and tanks from missions, not so sure about other servers.
Tankrewards.com has been very nice so far 🙂

They really should move from “we want everyone to be able to play even with a PC that’s utter crap” so we can get these nice things like dirty/snowy tracks, wet/dirty tanks based on the terrain you are driving through, weather changes and such. Yeah yeah I know there are more important things that should be fixed but these are two different teams of people so your argument is not valid.

I find it odd that all the times QB and Jingles dropped console vids that half the PC players said it looked great and the other half said the graphics were horrid.

I used to play on a descent laptop (but not a gaming laptop and it still was you know…a laptop) but the first time I saw wot console on my 4K I was floored.

Not a fan of the tank being given out with random loot drops. You could play 1,000 games and nto get the tank depending on the drop rates (which to my knowledge they didn’t publish) and some guy gets lucky and plays five potato games with 500 damage each and gets it. It’s just a way for WGA to artificially control how many they give away instead of even paying any lip service to making it a tiny bit skill based. And this is after the Tankbowl contest where in mid-contest they nerfed the shit out of popular US tanks overall while simultaneously buffing German ones overall right after introducing the second most pay to win tank (of course German!) mid contest as well.

      No.

      You are thinking of Bulgaria.

The Russians refereed to their country as The Cousinland. But parts of Russia called it The Sisterland.

U want my comment? This op is the stupidest thing wargaming ever came up with ive played 300 games since the op posted and im using my t-54 and i havent gotten a single medal. I think im going to file a petition for wargaming to to stop the ops cause if they keep these types of ops going then no one will ever play cause its stupid. U waste time trying playing over 300 games and no medals but y do that ill just go buy a is3a and end it because its the smart thing to do

The issue is we have no idea of the odds…3 to 1? 5 to 1? I suspect it is much higher and the “house” is OP, please nerf. With the Su-122-44 I can fall asleep playing, randomly smash a button and have 500 damage. After 70 games I have 0 of the 5 medals needed. Another issue is many of us who have yet to medal are suffering extreme cases of the Gambler’s Fallacy. There also is the belief that “if I play X amount of games then I am bound to win.” No. Someone can play 500 games and end up with a few medals and sore thumbs. I have shared the following on the forum and Reddit, but I want to do so here so more people can see this and set their expectations:

    “Independence of Events”

A basic assumption in probability theory is that each event is independent of all other events. That is, previous draws have no influence on the next draw. A popular catch phrase is “the dice have no memory.” A die or roulette ball cannot look back and determine that it is due for a 6 or some other number. How could a coin decide to turn up a head after 20 tails? Each event is independent and therefore the player can never predict what will come up next. If a fair coin was flipped 5 times and came up heads 5 times in a row, the next flip could be either heads or tails. The fact that heads have come up 5 times in a row has no influence on the next flip. It is wise not to treat something that is very very unlikely as if it were impossible (see Turner, 1998, and “Incremental Betting Strategies” in Games and Systems”). In fact, if a coin is truly random, it must be possible for heads to come up 1 million times in a row. Such an event is extraordinarily unlikely, p = 1/21,000,000, but possible. Even then, the next flip is just as likely to be heads as it is tails. Nonetheless, many people believe that a coin corrects itself; if heads comes up too often, they think tails is due.

To complicate matters, however, there are cases where random events are not completely independent. With cards, the makeup of the deck is altered as cards are drawn from the deck. As a result, the value of subsequent cards is constrained by what has already been drawn. Nonetheless, each of the cards that remains in the deck is still equally probable. If, for example, there are only six cards left in a deck, four 7’s and two 8’s, a 7 is twice as likely to be drawn as an 8, but the specific card, the 7 of spades, has the same probability of being drawn as the 8 of diamonds.”

    >>>Gambeler’s Fallacy<<<

The most famous example of the gambler’s fallacy occurred in a game of roulette at the Monte Carlo Casino on August 18, 1913, when the ball fell in black 26 times in a row. This was an extremely uncommon occurrence, although no more or less common than any of the other 67,108,863 sequences of 26 red or black. Gamblers lost millions of francs betting against black, reasoning incorrectly that the streak was causing an "imbalance" in the randomness of the wheel, and that it had to be followed by a long streak of red.

I much prefered the skill based reward system, like I’m already 500+ games in to the event meetingthe drop condition and have 1 fatherland medal….

I would have already completed the xp conditions or victory points if they had done either of those and frankly am pretty upset about it.

So far, I’ve logged about ten hours in WOT console. I’ve no idea how many matches I’ve played. I’ve played enough to get the daily XP bonus for almost all of them for the last two days, and have yet to see even one of those medals.

To agree with one of the previous posts: I think Wargaming is manipulating numbers. Out of my group of friends who play, I know one of them has gotten a medal. One medal. It’s frustrating and extremely off-putting. Any of the previous ops and I’d be part way to a free tank right now.

When I’m done getting my XP bonuses for the day and have no medals still; I’m done with this op. As far as I can see, there medals barely even exist.

6 days of grinding this op and still is3a. they should have made it a skill bassed op rather than just a chance. i’ve lost track of the number of games i’ve played. This sort of thing makes for rubbish game play.
