More snippets of info from the WGL Grand Finals in London:

  • There are no plans for new maps at all this year with the entire team working on converting current maps to HD.
  • No plans for an Italian tech tree this year.
  • CW will resume its season this summer and into the fall. Nothing is going to be added to the current global map.
  • There are some plans for activities/events for the Asian server, depending on player opinion.
  • The AMX 13 57 GF and M41 Black Bulldog won’t be appearing for sale.
  • However, the Pz. IV Hydrostatic will go on sale.
  • The list of tanks available for the tank trade-in feature will be expanded.
  • Neural networks are unlikely to be used for any tank game.
  • STB-1 is converted to HD.
  • “WarGames” has been postponed following an unsuccessful start on the RU and EU servers.
  • WG Fest will come back, the month and city will be announced a bit later on.
  • There is some questions about having the WGL 2018 Grand Finals in Moscow, as that coincides with the FIFA World Cup.
  • WG will sooner allow you to platoon with arty again than bring back cross team chat.
  • The developers consider a “fast” game to be less than 300 seconds and with a 15-0 score.
  • The SU-76i will never go on sale, that’s something that definitely needs to be nerfed.
  • The MTLS hasn’t been properly configured for two guns, so don’t expect to see it with us.
  • We look very closely at the Type-59. There are some plans for it, but nothing radical.
  • We’re not planning alternative guns for premium tanks.
  • 9.19 will bring a new wave of fixes for the servers, improving ping and other things.
  • Erlenberg is a terrible map, we’ll very likely remove it from rotation.
  • The Bat-Chat 25 t will likely be made HD during the last batch of tanks.
  • Statistically, less than 5% of shots are gold rounds.
  • Advertising at the Druzhko show was pretty cheap for us. Only cost a Chrysler K GF and some giveaway codes for Blitz.

      You ask how is the SU-76i of all tanks OP? Well, because of everything. It has decent gun for a T3 TD, it used to have prem MM (That’s now moot, as T3s don’t see T5 anymore), it has 40-60mm frontal armour, strong camo and it can move.

      Basically, take a Pz 2J, and trade the turret and mostly insignificant amount of armour (The guns that struggle with 2J will generally struggle with 76i as well, and the guns that don’t, generally cut through the 2J too) for a good gun and some more mobility. Sound like an OP tank? Sounds to me.

        Though it’s maximum nominal armour is 60mm, check out the ridiculous value of the gun mantlet. Which has an extra spaced plate on. I think you get like 100mm EA on there…

    Seriously? Are they just going to ignore that the majority of players wanted the number of arty per platoon LIMITED to 1 instead of completely removed?

      5% is true and a proof that statistics means shit because barely anyone fires gold at lights, mediums (except those Russian ones), arties, but when you’re driving a tougher heavy (Type4/5, Maus etc.) or TD you get goldspammed most of the time.

    Actually, it’s not unlikely that 5% of shots are gold rounds. Not everyone is tier 8-10 and most lower tiers are machine guns and other rapid fire guns. The newer players don’t have the money to buy a lot of gold rounds. Therefore 5% is actually feasible

    Remove Stalingrad, Charkov, Paris and some other static battlefields… the more open maps are, the less they could camp…

    Frontline has to be in 9.19 or very soon, like a summerbreak event before nobody plays anymore WoT because of missing reputation leagues, ladder, tournaments.

    Add also your own gamemode like Faceit, because nobody like to use 3rd-person party tools / websites to play WoT.

    Make WoT great again, dont ruin it with even more gold spam to dry out player which prefer to play WoT in their spare time.

    WGL was nice to watch, but only final day was filled with crowd… the days before they spoken about filled places, but every time camera rotate, u didnt saw more then technical staff 🙂

    WGL is a nice tournament, but only for some 100 people and not “100” Million (numbers came from WG) WoT player.

    I want also to see some stats which are like current “Hall-of-Fame” on their website…

    At most i prefer a change to MM about playing only with teammates in same tier level… then mixed with current MM and the battles should be more friendly for all – maybe mix the “new” MM then as player-side selection, like a chosable game mode.

    Finally, how about an extra slot in team, like on WGL teams, a 8. person which is fieldcommander from “top view”…

      I’d argue that the more open the maps are, the more people are likely to camp
      Take a look at Prokhorovka, Malinovka, etc etc
      Because why bother moving up when all you get is TD shots from behind bushes ?

    REMOVE PILSEN NOT ERLENBERG! PILSEN IS THE WORST MAP! The map is only good for heavy tanks. atleast erlenberg works for everysingle class in the game

    i can assume that 3-4% comes from asia server. koreans and vietnamese ppl can get REALLY trigger happy on the gold. those noobs don’t know that APCR won’t increase damage against tanks they can pen with normal AP…my Borsig and E-75 sometimes looks like american swiss cheese from all the prem shells of the same tier tank…

    They shouldn’t remove Erlenberg, they just have to fix the killzones from the flanks to the base on both sides. Also, the river should be crossable on more locations

    I actually enjoy playing on Erlenberg. Sure, it often ends up in a campfest after a flank is won, but the fighting on both flanks is enjoyable and it’s not a retarded city-ish map like Pilsen, Paris, Stalingrad or Charkov. Citymaps are bad, I even hate Himmelsdorf and Ensk.

    Erlenberg???Really WG?On that map u could play with TDs,lights,meds,heavys,so why is that bad map?Try remove Kharkov,Stallingrad, worst maps in WOT for all except heavys,or try improove Pilsen which is almost unplayble for most classes of tanks.I wonder if WG even play their own maps,if they think Erlenberg is problematic map?

    Lol no shit since all those tier 2/3 autocannons fire like a trillion rounds per minute and skew the entire statistic. a statistic that only includes tier 8+ tanks would probably be closer to 50% premium ammo usage.

    Maybe on servers that aren’t ASIA. I’d be very very surprised if real battles (6+) on the Asia server didn’t have 30% or more gold ammo usage. Quite literally 3/4 of the Japanese player base on the server shoot gold and nothing but, the South Koreans aren’t as bad but it’s still a better than even chance that the Defender they’re in is going to shoot gold at the shitty tier 6 medium or heavy that you’re in.

    Do not care about the gold rounds, just part of the game.
    Cross team chat, can take or leave. I have seen too many people give out locations, so I do understand the point.
    No new maps, they do not have enough maps now and they want to take out another one. Bring some of the old maps back.
    Oh well, back to nothing. They are just killing the game for players slowly and will put themselves out if they keep it up.

    Well, just how often does a match meet both of those conditions? I have had a fair number of high-tier matches last less than 5 minutes, but darn few matches end 15-0. My personal definition of a “fast” match is any match that lasts less than 300 seconds. Over 167 games, with an average battle tier of 8.34, I have had exactly one match that ended 15-0. However, in those same 167 battles, 43 matches ended after less than 5 minutes, and 10 matches did not even last 4 minutes.

    The average battle duration was 6 minutes and 41 seconds.

    Yes, let’s remove a balanced map where heavy, medium, and light tanks, and tank destroyers can play effectively. According to VBAddict, the Team 2 side of Erlenberg has an average win rate of 50.29% over 33,018 battles (http://www.vbaddict.net/statistics_maps.php?tier=0&tanktype=0&nation=0&modeid=0&team=0&groupby=3&fieldname=won_lost_ratio). This ranks it 31st of all 80 map and side combinations when sorted by win rate, indicating that Erlenberg is actually one of the more balanced maps in the game. By comparison, the Team 2 side of Westfield has won 53.97% of the time over 19,172 battles, and the Team 2 side of Mountain Pass has won 53.75% of the time over 18,806 battles. I see no reason to remove or rebalance Erlenberg.

    Yes, now let’s see the average for tier 8+ battles.

Heavies, Mediums, Lights, Turreted TDs, Turretless TD, and yes even Arty can all be effective on this map. Stalingrad, Pilsen, Kharkov, Sacred Valley, Paris, and Siegfried Line are far worse than Erlenberg. Fjords, Highway, and Tundra are not far behind.
