9.20 Soviet Changes Part 1

94

Good day everyone,

In line with the recently announced balance changes for 9.20, WG has now announced changes to the Soviet lines, specifically the mediums.

First off, the overall hope of these changes is to make the high tier mediums more active machines. So overall turret buffs and gun stats that support close to medium play. Rather than give you the full press release, we’ll condense it down to the key changes (I don’t think you all will mind at all):

Obj. 140

Turret roof armor has been improved somewhat, while its prominent turret hatch weakspots will remain the same. Full details for this haven’t been released at the moment, but if anything pops up we’ll be sure to update.

Tech tree showcase [WOWP] Italy part 3

10

So here is part 3. This one will be shorter since these articles takes forever to write and i’m going away tomorrow.

So this is the Ambrosini SAI/Aerfer fighter line

It starts from the Macchi MC.202 Folgore which is in another line.

Tier 6

Ambrosini SAI.207

The Ambrosini SAI-207 is a weird plane. Its made entirely from wood and is considered a light fighter. It was developed from the Ambrosini Sai.107 trainer/racer plane. Its armament consisted of 2x 12.7 mm breda and on one particular sample 2x 20 mm mg151 in the wings. Since this is a tier 6 plane the 20 mm’s will come as default since 2 mg’s wont cut it unless u have a bunch of free EXP. This plane was really fast and maneuverable since it was made of wood. Its top speed is 640 km/h which is really good. Continue reading

Matchmaking in 9.19.1 and the Road Ahead

23

From Wargaming.

Matchmaking was among the most problematic and complex elements we addressed in Update 9.18, and it’s something we’ll keep an eye on and fine tune moving forward. Since we rolled out fundamental system improvements, we continued to work on it using a combination of your feedback and extensive data gathering. Here, we’ll discuss the effects of the revised matchmaker, with a look at future tweaks in 9.19.1 and beyond. Let’s get to it!

What’s Changed

The feedback from all of you proved instrumental in outlining the list of long-term improvements and quick fixes that could be implemented in the short term.  Continue reading

WoT Console July Overview w/ Opinion Piece

21

Once again WoT Console has released another overview for the next month. So far we’re in for… more of the same, but I’ll save the opinions for the later half of the post. So far, here’s what we have:

To celebrate Canada Day and the 150th year since Canada’s confederation, WG is bringing out another Sherman variant, this time a Maple Leaf clad Sherman Grizzly:

Tech tree showcase [Wowp] Italy part 2

10

Well here is part 2 of the Italian tech tree. As some might have noted i didn’t say what type of aircraft the previous line was in part 1. Well it can be either fighter or multirole depending on how u want it. All planes has some ground pounding ability, especially the tier 9 and 10. This line is a clear fighter line though with very limited ground pounding ability. If someone wonders why it’s a mix of Reggiane and Caproni planes it’s because both companies don’t have enough planes for a full line and Caproni actually owned Reggiane.

Reggiane/Caproni (fighter) line:

Tier 2

Caproni Ca.114

The Caproni Ca.114 is a interwar biplane that was developed from the Caproni Ca.113 biplane trainer. It was armed with 2x 7.7 mm machine guns and had a top speed of 355 km/h. It competed against the Fiat Cr.32 to become the new main fighter of the Italian air force but lost due to various reasons. It was produced in 36 examples though and sold to the Peruvian air force. Its guns were rebarreled to 7.65 mm when in Peruvian service. So its standard armament will be the slightly bigger italian 7.7 mm machineguns but it will be able to upgrade them to 7.65 mm bullets which does slightly less dmg per bullet but the fire rate is increased by 100 rpm.

Help a Newbie Program!

18

Hello,

so these past weeks -if not few months- I have been thinking about ways to improve not just the blog but also my engagement with the community.

The Status Report discord channel was definitely a good idea and a start. We have surpassed the 700 users and it has a surprisingly friendly atmosphere. Also, we have given and still are giving niches so that people can discuss properly different Wargaming products and even AW and WT among other miscellaneous channels (like #Foodporn, #memes, #music, #Historical and Rita’s shitty trivia, etc) so everyone feels and is welcome. I’m always connected there are tend to answer frequently and so do the RSR lads.

I also now started giving rewards to Patrons for their support (planning to improve it with time). For years I have run platoons with the Twitch Subscribers, RITA clan members and Viewers but I never really platooned with Patrons but I have corrected that now. WoT Patron Platoons are now a thing!

But I’m still not satisfied… In a conversation with Ph3lan at Tankfest2017 I realised that I currently no longer have a favourite tank after he asked about it. I still hold dearly the Tortoise and IS-3 but the game meta has changed so much so rapidly that I now find myself playing completely different tanks and most of the time I use them in different roles than they were initially and years ago intended for.

If I, someone who has been playing this game for over 5 years feels this way I can only imagine how it must be for the New Players! It doesn’t help that a lot of the information out there for newbies is very much so outdated but unfortunately it comes hand in hand with the game’s age and the fact that there are so many vehicles out there nowadays that such a task to update would be not only monumental but pointless because like I said, the game meta is changing very quickly.

Although I have and will always make time to answer questions to newbies and tomatoes I believe the best course of action is to take the matter into my own hands.
