Victor Kislyi Q&A


A sort of Q&A. Not a terrible lot of information specifically related to World of Tanks, but more towards WarGaming in general. Still, it’s something on an otherwise slow news day:

-It’s more difficult for WarGaming to operate in China, as we don’t operate the game there directly, and there are several problems. We pay sufficient attention to all clusters, and as Slava Makarov says- we don’t focus on specific clusters, just the game itself.

-We’re at a point where all we have to do now is not drop the game, just keep improving.

-If something fails and we don’t finish something, I try to remain calm about it. Everything is in our hands. There’s only one real reaction- Lets try to figure out how or why something failed and get it up and running again. Continue reading

War Thunder [Development] Beriev Be-6 – “The Arctic Seagull”


The Be-6 is an all-metal, gull-winged flying boat, designed in the post war period in the Soviet Union to perform a wide variety of maritime missions. After having enjoyed a long service life in the real world, this flying gunship is now preparing to take off from the seas and oceans of War Thunder as well!


The first prototype of the Be-6 flew in 1945, only a couple years after the initial plans for the new Soviet flying boat were laid down in 1943. Evaluation of the first prototype showed that the aircraft could be improved in some areas to achieve better performance. Thus, Beriev engineers equipped the following model, that would become the production version, with more powerful Shvetsov ASh-73 engines and changed the defensive armaments layout from six 12.7mm UBT machine guns to 23mm NR-23 cannons, followed by the reduction in turret count from 5 to 3. This improved variant had its maiden flight in 1951, with serial production following shortly after. Continue reading

War Thunder [Development] Mitsubishi Ki-109: “An Unexpected Threat”


The Mitsubishi Ki-109, nicknamed “Peggy” by allied forces, was a Japanese late war design intended to defend the home islands from high altitude bombing raids, conducted by the USAF. Although its operational service was short-lived, the Ki-109 will receive a second chance at proving what it’s capable of in the upcoming 1.71 update. 


In 1943, the decision was made to develop a new heavy fighter/interceptor based on the existing Ki-67 bomber. The new design was part of Japanese efforts to counter strategic high-altitude bombing conducted by heavy US bombers, such as the B-29 Superfortress, on the Japanese home islands. To achieve this, Mitsubishi engineers proposed the installation of the 75mm Type 88 anti-aircraft cannon inside the aircraft’s nose. The project, designated as Ki-109, was approved in early 1944 and the first two prototypes were already completed in late summer of the same year.

Do crew skills affect reloading speed with an automatic loader?​

No, they don’t.

Will the durability of tank destroyer rockets be corrected from super-durable to ordinary levels, with real-world values? Maybe they won’t blow up, but they could be knocked out and have to be reloaded when shot with machine guns, for example.

Yes, we plan to change the parameters for launchers and rockets, and add other components (the ATGM sight) to the DM, so that hitting them can knock the rocket system out and block the ability to launch.

Will there be a division between types of APDS shells such as solid homogenous APDS and soft-alloy core APDS? I’m referring to the APDS for the Leopard, М60, М60А1, Vickers, Centurion Mk 10, Chieftain, and T-10M.

Yes, we plan to introduce more types of APDS with differentiation based on DM mechanics (penetration depending on angle, post-penetration effect etc.). Continue reading

Patch 9.20 Release


Update 9.20 is going live on EU and NA tomorrow morning.

On EU: The World of Tanks servers will be unavailable on the 30.08.2017 from 03:00 CEST to 09:30 CEST due to this update.

Please also keep in mind, that due to the actualisation:

  • Clan Portal (eu.wargaming.net/clans) will be unavailable from 03:00 CEST 30.08.2017 till 09:30 CEST 30.08.2017
  • Global map will be frozen from 03:00 CEST 30.08.2017 till 03:00 CEST 31.08.2017
