Second World War Tiger Veterans

On 6 April, The Tank Museum opened its new Tiger Collection Exhibition, bringing five members of the Tiger tank family together for the first time.

Opening the exhibition were four Second World War veterans, two German and two British. Before the opening, we sat down with Ken Tout, Ernest Slarks, Wilhelm Fischer and Waldemar Pliska, and asked them what they thought of the new collection.

Thank you, that was a really good video.

Ken Tout has written a BUNCH of books about the war but I haven’t read any of them yet.

I really appreciated the German fellow’s comments about the dangers of future conflict.

Thank you for the video. It’s a shame that even today, these German servicemen have to apologize for the acts of a few. Also not able to wear their medals in public is a crying shame, did they not fight bravely for there country from an aggressor bent on destruction of their family and homes.

They were aggressor. They kill people, who “fight bravely for there country from an aggressor bent on destruction of their family and homes”. They kill famalies of people, who “fight bravely for there country from an aggressor bent on destruction of their family and homes”. And they don’t forget it. I can only respect those who can be responsible for the actions of the past. In difference from those who in our days makes SS soldiers heroes.
