I know chinese meds are not the best atm but just buffing everything is not a solution. Even WG does not understand this problem. There has to be balancing.

Not sure what you’re referring to, but lately they have been rebalancing (not outright buffing) a lot of vehicles.

How much of a difference does this actually make? Both of them look better (+1) but you don’t shoot the conqueror on n the side of the turret anyways, and the canvron, well I don’t see one enough in battle to know where to shoot it. ( pen the hull and turret roof/cupola?)

      Caern’:

The turret is not just the CAX turret bolted on anymore. (beacuase the HD cent’ nerfs screwed the original turret) plus its better by the look of it.

Its also got a new monster dpm gun. I would say it’s going to change a lot. Also if that dpm stays you will be seeing quite a few to practice shooting at πŸ™‚

Well the conqueror can now easily bounce tier 10 TD heat, and the Caearnarvon seems to get a much thicker gun mantle.

Conq: It gets spaced armour so should be much more anoying to pen with HEAT. The other changes will also alter the tanks play style. (for better or worse)

On the conqueror the big deal is the spaced armor on the turret. It will make heat 54s cry, which in itself is great news, but look at that protruding bit of armor on the side that hides the turret ring. Form 130 to 305mm πŸ˜‰
The caernarvon, well the armor changes are nothing special I admit, although historical accuracy is always welcome. What is going to be a big deal is the new gun it gets. That 32 pdr is going to be evil: 220 pen 280 dmg 6sec reload πŸ˜‰

While the Conqs turret armour is great, atm the moment there are a few points in the cheeks where high tier HEAT can punch through, so the extra thickness plus the spaced armour makes it near impervious to HEAT rounds as well. The upper plate is also being buffed a bit as well.

As for the Caravan, the turret, while less angled, has a less weakspots overall, and now has a big ol’ gun mantlet. And a decent gun. If you want to know the best place to shot one atm tho, when looking at his front, aim for the rightside of the toe plate (ie, not at the driver). This is where one of the (weak) ammo racks are. Sure to 1) Piss the Caravan commander off, 2) get you self a nice ammo detonation.

Both are also, by the looks of things, getting 20mm thicker side armour. While this going to spot them being penned while they are being flanked, it does mean both are more forgiving when you side scrape.

Not sure how the new turret for the caern is going to be, though it looks that it should be much better then the previous top (~cent 1) turret and certainly better then the toilet roll turret it has now.. As it is now though, when on flat ground just shoot the turret roof that’s directly above the gun. It’s stupid weak and anything with ~190+ pen will more or less go through it >90% of the time. In my experience, the cent ax turret only really works when you’re using 6+ degrees of gun dep (against low pen guns or lower tiers), so as long as he’s not using the full extent of that, turret should be a large lolpen spot.

There are buffs on the side armor aswell on both tanks so they can sidescrap without being pen by everything so that ia another good thing and the space armor of the turret of conqueror will eat without any problems heat ammunition comming from the front and side…so i could say is a lot better than before and is not just a cosmetic change

This makes no sense to me. The Caernarvon already has enough problems as is and giving it back the cent turret almost looks like a nerf. I love the Conqueror I would even argue that it’s better then the 215B. So adding this turret armor may look good it does nothing to fix its current problems. It just makes it a heavy that’s in between a front line and second line heavy. Not enough to square off against the mauchen but enough to keep the meds away.
It’s always been a second line heavy that has it’s day in the sun every so often.

There’s a big weakspot for the current CAX turret on the Caravan, one that the new turret removes. I think the new turret, overall, is better (especially since it now can mount a heavy tank like gun).

This isn’t your standard Centurion turret, this is a special one with thicker armor and if you look at it in more detail, a way bigger gun mentle.

So, basically the original second turret? That would be the the one I used long ago. Then again the tank wasn’t all that great then ether but I loved. It was a breath of fresh air compared to the BP and I love the cent’s so I’m somewhat bias. I thought the new turret was an improvement due to the angles on the turret? Better hull down tactics? Hmm interesting to say the least though.

“So, basically the original second turret?”

Pretty much yes, but its better armoured from memory.
Whats to come on the whole seems like a buff over the CAX.
coupled with the new gun the tank as whole is definatly getting a buff.

I like how Rita, which is obviously making money with WoT has already forgotten, that that’s not a new turret for the Caernarvon but it’s old one that got overworked into HD.

WG took it’s turret away which Mantle was very good at absorbing all kind of shells, changed it to this ugly ass paperturret which made the Caernarvon a fully useless Heavy. And now they decide to put it back on because they realized that this crap turret made the tank even worse(statistics).

And all you so called WoT players, WoT intrested and so called WoT News Blogger are like:
“OH Caernarvon is getting a fully new Turret ! OH I wonder how Caernarvon will be with this brand new never been on him Turret ! OH I guess this NEW Turret will help Caernarvon to be a better Tank”

What a joke, only GamingW/War here knew about it. Only he deserves to be called a WoT player.

This is not the old Caernarvon turret. The old Caern turret was the Mk.III Centurion turret the tier 8 medium had. This is a completely different turret, which was supposedly designed with a new gun mantlet specifically to fit the British 32pdr gun. We have never seen it before in WoT.

Wow. Since this guy said my name that I don’t necessarily agree with I just get down voted. “Joy”.
I wanted to have a good conversation about how what is happening because I didn’t understand why they are changing these tanks. The Caern I didn’t think was in a bad state but then again it’s never been in a good one either. The conq. I didn’t think they needed to do anything with it and the spaced armor doesn’t do much at all. Maybe here and there in few situations but that’s it.
Plus krayos is forgetting that most players hardly remember the original turret in the first place! Most of the players these days are new they wouldn’t have known otherwise.
Is this a “new” turret? Yes. It’s similar to the old one. Thus my observation.
Let’s not have conversations anymore let’s just blow up at the people that are giving us the information and make all the fanboys mad and take everyone down with them….
And we wonder why they turned off cross chat…
Because of unappreciative self entitled loons like this guy…
      Thanks.

I don’t mind them increasing the armor thickness of the Conquerors turret and ufp, but I think they should remove the spaced armor off it and save it for the “super Conqueror” so there’s more visual difference between the two

Although I wouldn’t mind the FV215b getting the turret and spaced armor off the “Super Conqueror”. Would look awesome

    • BattleBudgie says:

FV215b’s main drawbacks are its rear-mounted turret and its paper side armor. These spaced armor plates don’t help either of these so no, please no. It might look awesome but it’d still be a pain to play.

      1

      0
      • DeadArashi says:

it’s got 101mm of side armor… better then the 70mm that the Super Conqueror will have. While rear turreted makes ridges harder it has the advantage of being able to side scrape in towns.

The only real “paper thin” section of the side armor on the FV215b is the part where the turret sits, but if they do the same adjustment that the Conqueror is getting that’s going to go to 305mm thick

        2

        0
      • Anonymous says:

@deadArashi, the FV215b actually only has 50.8mm of side armour, that 101 is the area that isnt cover with tracks. This allows quite a few tanks to even overmatch the FV’s side armour

You just made yourself look stupid. This turret is NOT the first version of the Caern’s Centurion top turret in HD. This is a different version of a Centurion turret, one with bigger mantlet and more thickness.

      2

      2
      • Kyros says:

@ BattleBudgie Just because they changed up the mantle and gave it more armor doesn’t mean it’s a different version. It’s the exact same turret, it’s no different version, Wargaming was just able to punish its outsourced China slaves to get the turret model this time historically right.
You made yourself look stupid by calling me stupid over a obvious Wargaming mistake which I didn’t mention because I expect people to understand this. Once again all I got is disappointment…

I still remember the old days where I used to bounce in the turret of Caernarvon (the old pre-HD changes) and got penned in the fking turret of the Conqueror every single time (when Conqueror had its 114mm turret front :^) Those were the days man you younger generations had it easy πŸ™

T32 needs a buff badly in the gundepartment.
M103 could use a bit tougher sidearmor but otherwise its fine.
T110E5 is pretty good now. Not top 3 effective but still a decent tank

Yean, and the T29 is a beast for it’s tier and can hold itself while being bottomtier. M6 is a fine heavy and the T1 is also quite a good tank for it’s tier. No buffs needed, except for the pen on the T32 gun. Just give it better ammo with 220 mm pen.

Even tho the conqueror gets some nice armour buffs, i feel like the turret buff’s arent a real advantage with its current playstyle. At medium to long ranges or while playing hull down the armour works great already, combined with the minimal exposure time (due to insane gun handling) which prevents people from aiming for weak(er) points of the armour.
I think that with a armour buff but gun nerf this tank comes closer to the M103 which cuts in real diversity
