Anton Pankov Q&A and New Ways to Earn Bonds

27

Bit of a combo article for you all, a brief Q&A with Anton Pankov and some new ways to earn Bonds in 9.20.1. First up, the Q&A:

-Regarding the absence of HD winter maps, there is nothing necessarily wrong with them, it’s simply that with everything being so white they require a bit more care in regards to lighting in order to look good. They’ll hopefully be shown off at this years WG Fest.

-Speaking of which, this years WG Fest has been announced for Moscow.

-Elaborating on the lack of a gift tank for this year, Anton says that one of the reasons for this is related to a plan to rebalance the lower tiers, and WG not wanting to introduce something so temporary.

-Regarding new nations, we’ll have to see what progress is made. At the present, there are a few nations that the developers are looking at, but we’re not going to announce anything officially, even with the Polish and Italians. There are also a few alternate tech tree branches and ideas for premiums. They’ll be announced when/if they are ready.

-There will need to be some experimentation with the IS-6, whether that’s increasing the penetration and ditching it’s preferential matchmaking. It’s not entirely clear what will be done with it.

-“If I could go back in time, I’d have never announced 10.0 Rubicon.”

-We had another tank set to go as part of a collaboration with another company (not the T92 LT), but the deal didn’t go through. So at the moment we have a tank fully modeled with all kinds of paraphernalia, just waiting for something to be done with it.

-Regarding any sort of appearance of Warhammer 40k content, it won’t be reserved for only the Asian servers.

-Alternative hulls, not all tanks have these, but they can possibly be part of the new customization system.

-Trade-ins aren’t planned as part of an ongoing event. We might have some additional functions to go with it.

-Regarding anything involving tank changes (like high tier Japanese heavies) ask Murazor. We are keeping an eye on things though.

-The Defender can be sold this year, if you’d like.

-WarGaming is looking to first get maps transfered into HD. After that they can look at the possibility of having aspects of the environment be destructible and possibly affecting gameplay.

-Statistically, introducing Tier 10 light tanks was a good move. They didn’t encroach too much on the medium tank’s role, and such a thing was necessary do to the MM changes.

New Ways to Earn Bonds

And in additional news, new ways to earn bonds will be introduced with update 9.20.1:

First off, Bonds will now be awarded for playing Tier 9 & 10 vehicles.

As well, Epic Medals and Battle Hero achievements will also have a Bond reward as well, depending on the Tier you are playing at and the complexity of that medal. More details to come later.

Aside from it using a smoothbore, a Leman Russ would be perfectly fine in WoT. It has no computerized fire control (everything is done by people), frontal armor was (prior to being retconned in 6e IG codex to being “inches thick”) only 150mm thick with a giant hole in the glacis for the bolter, and it’s quite slow with a top speed of ~35kph.

150mm thick of plasteel with translates to 4 meters of armour as stated in Imperial Armour. Considering the main gun of a Lemen Russ can damage another Leman Russ, balance is out of the window.

@HorusDidNothingWrong: What volume? I looked through the entirety of Imperial Armor 1 (granted this was a 2000 edition) and it made no mention of a plasteel-to-RHA conversion

I’ve several times said that if the “Nameless” (anime tank) ever makes it onto the NA server, then I’m quitting this game. Now I have to amend that to “the Nameless or any Warhammer 40k tank”. WG’s greed is killing this game.

It isn’t on Console either. Keep that to Blitz.
Also I love the idea of 40k being Asia-only, since it is practically unplayed over there.

hmm i dunno. there were quite a lot of rage when Nameless came out, but there were also plenty of ppl who bought it, so opinions differ, but the more vocal ones hate it…

Just buy the current one. When they release regular one you can file a ticket asking for a swap. I did that with Liberté-> Regular, when they released the regular one.
Your stats will not be moved though, they will be listed seperately in the tank list.

I… don’t know I feel about this. As a Warhammer 40k fan (and not just the PC games) this really excites me. On the other hand, I don’t think they fit in this game…

Even with the rising popularity due to the computer games, it’s still a niche and not everyone will be happy to see this.

“…with the IS-6, whether that’s increasing the penetration and ditching it’s preferential matchmaking.”

Woah, I didn’t think that could even be an option! Though the armor can’t really deal with tier X. They could just do what they did with the SuperPershing give it “okay” Pen and slightly better armor (or smaller weakspots).

I understand they want to remove preferential matchmaking, if they buff too much people are going to cry “pay to win” and if they don’t do enough and remove Pref. mm. people are going to want a refund (which will happen anyways bc. some bought it for the pref. mm.)

I will definately be seriously pissed off, if they removed the pref mm on any of my pref. mm tanks. that was the sole reason for buying them, because i despise +-2 mm.

if they were to do this, i hope they fall flat on their faces for that…

Thats interesting…earning bonds with tier 9s? I sort of think they should keep bond earning ability to tier 10s only and simply work on fixing the mm to lessen the amount of bottom tier battles for tier 8s.

    Yes please.

“WarGaming is looking to first get maps transfered into HD. After that they can look at the possibility of having aspects of the environment be destructible and possibly affecting gameplay.”

How about making maps bigger/sizing them appropriately for the tier? NO tank should have a view range (including using optics/binocs) that covers more than 1/4 of the map. Tiers 7-10 should not be playing on maps like Mines where you can get spotted right after leaving spawn.

How about fixing MM by adding player tiering based on PR or stats (not win%) and including that in MM?

How about giving Central and South America their own server? I see too many of those players complaining about lag and it impacts their game play and the team.

I love 40k but I absolutely hate it when WG releases novelty tanks/paintjobs into the live server. Keep the goofy stuff for temporary events only.

Defender is pure ebola, the fewer of them there are, the better.

But as of the idea that tier 9s and 10s can earn bonds via normal gameplay in the randoms, that’s great. And hero medals also giving bonds at any tier, that’s even better.

No thanks, we don’t need anymore OP soviet premiums in the shop.

What to do with IS-6 huh?

Well, there is IS-3A, IS-5, Defender. Do we really need another full-MM tier 8 IS? Keep IS-6 for the variety. But I don’t mind if it gets swapped for a Defender as a way of saying “We’re sorry for fking up the meta so much that your IS-6 is useless against everything”.

No thanks. Just give us the much needed British tier 8 prem HT.

The bond outside ranked battle is a nice touch though.

Well at least we can say the bonds changes are nice…
If you are going to change the is6, give my super Pershing 900hp, the upgraded turret, and an mg port cover.

  13. does that mean tier 9 and 10 get bonds no matter what other tank tier is in the battle?

  14. wolvenworks says:

in the opinion that with all these not exactly non-realistic tanks, WG oughta make a new game just for all the fiction tank. call it something like a fiction tank all stars or something. i’d chip in for a Leman Russ in there. or maybe a SV-001, a Karl, or maybe even a totally new tank designed by SerBWorks (like THE Waffle)
