WoT Update 9.22 Full Notes

18

Full notes for the 9.22 update hitting EU and NA in the next couple of days:

Improvements to the Matchmaker

  • The improvements to the matchmaker will ensure more even distribution among the battle types enabled by players (Standard Battle, Attack/Defense, Encounter Battle, Grand Battle). The battle type selector will consider the history of the player’s previous battles. The Grand Battles will not come in a succession.

Improvements to the Vehicle Customization

  • The lower panel of the customization interface will contain the Applied sign for elements that are applied to the vehicle.
  • Increased the clickable spots for the Emblems and Inscriptions.
  • When purchasing customization elements, the Purchase and Exit text will be displayed to players. If a player does not make a purchase but only changes a customization element (elements), the Apply and Exit text will be displayed.

Changes to the Ranked Battles

Changes in the new season:

  • Now a season will last 21 days and is not divided into stages
  • Increased the number of ranks from 5 to 15
  • Reworked the conditions of earning chevrons:
    • The top 10 players on the winning team and the top player on the losing team will receive 1 chevron
    • The top 3 players on the winning team will receive 1 additional chevron
    • Players who took places 11-15 on the winning team and places 2-5 on the losing team will retain a chevron
    • Players who took places 6-15 on the losing team will lose a chevron
  • Added new functionality: rank shield. Some ranks will be “shielded”. The shield will have a particular number of durability points.
  • Reworked the interface of the main screen in the Ranked Battles for proper display of information about 15 ranks
  • Reworked the interface of the rewards for the ranks and season. It can be entered from the main screen and includes:
    • Information about the rewards for each rank
    • Information about the rewards for the season
  • Changed the art of the vehicle ranks: they were replaced with the rank points. The principle of earning rank points remained unchanged.
  • Removed the display of the vehicle ranks from the vehicle panel; the vehicle ranks were replaced with rank points in the vehicle statistics.
  • Reworked the progress interface of vehicle ranks: upon reaching the maximum rank players will be able to see the number of the earned rank points in the Garage.
  • Revised the Leaderboard interface for the Ranked Battle mode.

Improvements to the Stronghold Mode

  • In Skirmishes and Advances, the battle room commander can select a player who will use the Combat Reserves (Airstrike and Artillery Strike); it can be any player of the detachment, including the legionnaires. The player becomes the Forward Observer and uses the reserves in battle.

No special status for the replaced vehicles? They are really inconsistent with their policies, aren’t they…

    • Noob100 says:

All the tanks being “replaced” are only being moved, genius

      • Shade01982 says:

If you read it correctly, no, not at all. Both the Object 430 and the Object 263 are not being ‘replaced’. A different version is created separately for these. That’s why it specifically says ‘REMOVED FROM GAME’ and that’s also why your statistics, MoE’s and badges remain on the original tier X vehicle. And the SU-122-54 is just being removed.

        Reading comprehension is a b*tch, ain’t it…

So remove pref mm tanks but then puts jag rig 88 back in the store

  3. Mikosah says:

Obj 257 “insignificantly improved hull armor” Do they realize that changing that v-shape from 40 to 45mm basically makes it impossible for any gun smaller than the Japanese 140mm is never going to penetrate this thing’s sides?

    9
    • Jurrunio says:

Through the tracks that is. Keep in mind that this thing has a huge side profile, so as long as you avoid the tracks and shoot near the upper half of the hull, you will pen easily. The whole from armor is only 130mm thick, which isn’t that good at tier 9 (look at 252U, that thing has 140mm despite being a tier 8)

      1
      • Mikosah says:

Agreed that the 252u armor profile is ridiculous its tier, but the reason its so crazy is that the slopes make the upper plates utterly invincible frontally. Sometimes armor is called ‘idiot-proof’ but in this case it isn’t an exaggeration.

And so if we now say “well, at least this new 257 isn’t as imbalanced as the 252u”, that’s a meaningless statement. Even completely flat-on, the 257’s weakest side armor is 190mm effective, so RIP tier 7 and 8. As is the lower plate frontally. The upper frontal plates are over 300mm effective frontally, so this is actually one of the better armored tier 9s. And it travels at 50 kph. Idiots will find ways to die in it, but that doesn’t stop this from being a complete mental abortion.

      • Anonymous says:

Yes, of course the side armor is very weak, you can easily penetrate it with every tier7 tank, and you don’t have to go to his ass to deal damage, because 140 penetration on tier7 mediums is perfectly enough to penetrate it. Oh wait, it’s not! Seriously, this is the biggest joke ever from WG. A Comet will have to go to his ass, because you cant pen it either frontally, or the side armor. Heck, I kept bouncing off with the tier9 patton from the side! If it’s not strictly perpendicular to you, you wont pen it with t7 vehicles.

      • Jurrunio says:

@Mikosah Probably encourage use of HE? HE shells dont care about angle, it only cares about space armor and thickness. In the 257’s case, the thin armor behind the tracks might stop kinetic shells well, but not so much when it comes to explosives. This should make the 257 very vulnerable since angling wont help.

@Anonymous I dont expect a medium tank that’s two tiers lower should pen a heavy easily, even from the sides. Not to mention Comet’s penetration is one of its weaknesses.

  4. partialist says:

Why on earth are they putting the 8,8 cm Pak 43 Jagdtiger in the store?!

In the same update as removing the FCM 50t because of pref mm?

    Oh man…

(very happy about the 54 prot engine buff though! 😀 )

  5. Tankini says:

Bye bye 263, you shall be missed…

  6. bbmoose says:

That buff to the Mod 1 will make it so damn powerfull compared to it’s peers on tier 8. With that hp buff they took away the only balancing factor the tank had.

  7. RAD FROOD 25 (Console) says:

Does anyone know what the unknown tanks are?

  8. Ragnarokbazil says:

    Object 257
Insignificantly improved the hull side armor…. You mother fucken scumbaging assholes wargaming…

  9. hidden changes says:

They also did change the appearance of the orange German camouflage (historical one) It looks completely different now. I don’t get it why they didn’t even announce it.

  10. anonymous says:

uh,no information about the MTLS-1GI4 change?
