We have a review of the new premium from the founder of the FILO Clan group so our thank’s go to him and the FILO family so we have this from this Page.

To be honest, I feel quite special that my first ever review as a CC for WarGaming is a tank like the Progetto 46.  It’s really unlike anything in the game currently and is almost as radical as the S-Tanks were when they were first introduced.

To my knowledge, the Progetto 46 is the first ever tier 8 tank to be the first to represent a new nation – this is a spot normally reserved for tier 6 vehicles. This one is a fully-fledged tier 8 medium tank and wow, what a start to the Italian line this vehicle is proving to be.

I’m quite a fan of medium tanks and whilst I prefer the scrappers that let you get in close and personal, this tank will very often get you dead quickly, if you don’t treat her with some respect. She’s fast – 55kph top speed and hits that very quickly – but make sure you appreciate the speed as you’ll find yourself getting to the fight at the same time as the lights – you’re just a bigger target for the enemy to shoot at than they are! Make sure you use this tanks agility to get you in and out to cover as quickly as possible.

The armour isn’t anything to write home about – 1400 hit-points and 60/30/20 hull armour with 80/60/25 turret.  The turret is, I’ve found, quite bouncy but the rest of the vehicle, even when angled, is pretty easy to penetrate.  Best trying for hull-down positions or something behind which you can poke – you know it makes sense!

The new ‘auto-reloading’ mechanic.

Where this tank really shines is the gun and brand-new loading mechanics. It’s only a 90mm gun with 212 pen and 240 average DPS – but this one is also an auto-reloader! This is a completely new mechanic to the game and shouldn’t be confused with auto-loaders – because it’s nothing like them. The gun is capable of having 3-rounds ‘pre-loaded’ and ready to fire – either single shots with (at best I believe) a 6.60 second per shell reload time or as a ‘clip style’ rapid fire with 2.00 seconds between each of the three shells.

The fun with this gun comes when you decide to fire two rounds – or fire again before the reload of any round is complete.   When you fire, the auto-reloader starts to pre-load the next round but if you fire again, the reload is aborted and restarts after the shot is taken.  The reload timer is reset and the time already used is added to the standard reload time and hey-presto – you have your new reload time.  Simple eh?

This happens again should you choose to fire the third shell and then you’re left with the maximum reload time of around 24 seconds for three new rounds (with the spec I had it set up in the picture – skills+perks+modules).  However, should you choose to fire again after the first of your new rounds is loaded – the process starts over again!

Now you’re thinking ‘that’s just stupidly complicated’ – well yes, it’s complicated but to be honest, it’s possibly the best reloading mechanic in the game.  It beats single shot guns hands down due to it’s ability to fire 3 rounds in 4 seconds – but it’s also pretty good as a single shot gun with the 6.60 second reload.  But it’s better than the magazine auto-loaders because you’re only ever waiting around 10 seconds max for one round to be reloaded – at which point you can either choose to fire again or wait for a second or even third round to be pre-loaded too.

This mechanic gives you options and lets you really react to opportunities as they present themselves.  You track a tank in a good position, dump the other two shells in as well and then take cover.  Left that enemy vehicle and 5 hitpoints? Don’t be frustrated waiting for that single shot reload any more – just dump the second round into it, take the kill and move on!

In conclusion.

With a great turn of pace and agility and the ability to do single or multi shot damage giving superb situational options, this tank with it’s new gun mechanics is a lot of fun to play!  I see a great future for it in the game and if the main Italian line uses the same auto-reloading mechanic – I can’t wait to get the tier 10 version!!  You really do want the Progetto m35 model 46 in your garage – so keep your eyes open for further news and a release date.

Hope you enjoyed my first review – please let me know in the comments section.

Either I’m reading this wrong, or someone is forgetting the Type 59…

Is this a bought reviewer ? Because it sounds like one.

For short, it’s a STB1 on tier8, you either have enough skill to play it and enjoy or you suck huge time as a tomatoe. But even skilled avoid playing STB because it takes too much attention and skill to play good in that Tank compared to other Tanks, same will happen to this Baguetto 46.

No I know him to be honest. In my opinion this thing is as most new Tanks in game a bit OP. The ballance team are dumb which is why all older prems are NFG.

but 212 pen isn’t much for Warriors/Purists like me (who never use gold shells). if anything, i’d compare it more to Chi-Ri: blunt shells with large capacity to volume-fire devastating damage within 10 secs. considering 10 secs is about how long a revalorise would load, progetto m35 seems to have a higher damage potential in exchange for lower pen than a revalorise, which is more of a nuke button

    This tank is completely OP
The single shot reload of 6,6 seconds is better than on some other classical medium tanks, is not that much longer than on other paper medium tanks, but you have the autoreloader mecanics which make you dispose of a 720 damages burst in case of need
Plus the total reload is not that long at all…

    Gg balance team !!!

Normally it is quite easy to guess from the stats how a tank will perform. With this new kind of mechanic, though, I am not so sure. I guess that good players will do very well in it because of the flexibility the mechanic affords, while poor players will struggle and end up with very bad DPM. However, if this tank mostly sees Tier X matches, I still think it will be rather disappointing on balance because I think its survivability against high tier tanks is rather low. We”ll see.

Yeap allready haters crying for progetto being op…because they saw some ace tanker games on comunity contributers…nice op tank with 60 mm armor on front on tier 8. There are tier 8_10 guns with he pen over 68_120 mm or even 213 mm hesh pen. So this tank can die from one shoot from english tier 10 td,s or can loose 2/3 of his hp pool from a single shoot. Nice op tank…dudes…

Progetto have similar overall mobility and armor than tanks like Mutz, Indien Panzer, STA-1 or TVP VTU… That do not have the advantage of the autoreloader and have no signifiant single shot advantage

Similar reload mechanics is present in Armored Warfare, and it makes vehicles farming damage like crazy. You get all advantages of magazine tank – fast reload and great damage burst without disadvantages – after emptying ready rack still able to fire after reloading single round.
On top of that decent gun and mobility gives one of the most OP tanks. And money can buy it.

but the ready rack system has a very definite reload time: it doesn’t scale. to me AW’s system makes more sense than WG’s. WG’s ready rack seems to be a clumsy sales pitch. some (but not me) might even compare it to BF4’s Levolutions.

Looking at YT gameplays – it works exactly like in AW.
So if any premium tank may be worth its price, this one is on top.

Just remove the autoreloader and make the italian vehicles more historical.

looks like a really fun tank, mobile and with a high-quality gun that will allow a TON of play variation and effectiveness 🙂

Doesn’t seem to be very OP imo. I bet it’s a pretty decent tank in the right hands, but majority of players going to struggle with it facing higher tier vehicles. So quite boring and I’d probably never bother with it, but cred to WG for introducing new tanks and new mechanics!

    • Partybooper says:

And this is EXACTLY what this game needs!
Since the first iteration of stats was published I said that these tanks are going to be VERY effective, IN THE RIGHT HANDS…

We don’t need more cancerous vehicles which single-handedly destroy the matchmaking for their tier. In other words, idiot-proof tanks.

I think it is good that WG start to introduce mechanics for tanks into this game which allow good players to do well in said tanks while bad players will be punished for playing them the wrong way.
This way, the bad players are forced to improve their own performance in this game and not play like total idiots while still having decent results (Object 257 comes to my mind, or the new 268 4…).

I like it. Paper tanks which will do great if you play them correctly, and terribly if you don’t know what you are doing. Give the weaker players and beginners a reason to improve! Yes please! 🙂

  10. Cheese says:

    M26 Pershing – DPM – 2,126.83
    TVP VTU Koncept – DPM – 2,113.94
    STA-1 – DPM – 2,325.33
    M46 Patton KR – DPM – 2,153.09
    Panzer 58 Mutz – DPM – 2,180
    STA-2 – DPM – 2,325.33
    T25 Pilot Number 1 – DPM – 2,235.90
    Progetto M35 mod 46 – DPM – 2,180

So Progetto has same DPM as all other premium and non premium tier 8 mediums which do not have armor. BUT, Progetto has SUPERIOR terrain resistances, more power to weight and higher speed than any of those tanks, while having same drawback – no armor, but it has additional TWO shots in magazine, while others do not (which means this tank can trade damage A LOT better).
So how this tank isn’t OP? Is tank OP only if it’s very good against tanks which are 2 tiers higher? Because this tank is a lot better than any tier 8 medium which matches that playstyle…

P.S: Wargaming never nerfs premium tanks, so if this tank proves to be OP; it won’t be sold again, just like Defender on EU servers, so whoever gets it can sh*t on anyone who doesn’t get it, just like Defenders do it on tier 8’s and lower 😉

Good luck and have fun 😀

Yay, it has 0,32 accuracy too! Also 259mm prem pen is as good as you can get on t8 medium. And yes, it’s pretty obviously OP af, outclassing every singl one of t8 mediums with traditional playstyle. I mean, compare it to TVP or CDC. It feels like a joke.
So WG can get few extra millions out of it. We just need to throw fifty euro on them and feel happy too, for a while.
But yeah, everything should be ok, because QB said that only good players will perform well on this thing .o) Looking forward to it.

    It’s kinda sad…again.

  12. Dr Farticus says:

Yeah watched a couple of reviews of the tank being played by “unicum CC’s” in top tier battles. Not exactly real world conditions. Buy it, and face tier 10 tanks over and over again, try not loading gold ammo, and I for one NEVER run food or large kits, as even with a premium account, how can you afford that?. You can’t. Because your tier 8 premium tank is an xp and credit pinata for the tier 9 and 10 players, so THEY can afford to keep playing high tiers. Another thing to remember when watching these “unicum CC” reviews is the test review games set up by WG might very well get preferential RNG, and MM as QB even admits, in his review of the even 90. Couple this with the fact that I am now realising that the the top clannie fanbois in my server appear to also get suspiciously good MM and RNG in random battles, provided they be sycophants for WG…well. When 1.0 was released, there were premium tanks on display for me to buy in my garage, tanks I did not own. Yeah, they data mine your account. They like having a ladder of skill, it encourages large amounts of spending, but they also massage some players, to stay up there.
