War Thunder 1.91: Westland Scout & Wasp

2

Continuing on from the last devblog, War Thunder is going to introduce the Westland Scout and its naval version the Wasp in 1.91. These two helicopters will form the early tiers of the British Helicopter tree and are set to be on par with the Helicopters of the other nations, coming armed with 2 7.62mm GPMGs and 4 SS.11 ATGMs. The main differences between the Scout and the Wasp will be their tops speeds, with the Scout having a top speed of 193 km/h (120 mph) and the Was a speed of 211 km/h (131 mph).

Following the theme with other starter helicopters, it won’t have any protection at all leaving you vulnerable to small arms fire. Also with the SS.11s, they are slow-moving with a velocity of 190m/s meaning they will leave you waiting a while to successfully engage targets at a distance. While not mentioned in the devblog, some Scouts were used to test the Swingfire from a helicopter platform, known as Hawkswing, so this could be a future armament or one yet to be revealed for the Wasp and Scout.

Overall, the Scout and the Wasp will be Britain’s equivalent to the other starting helicopters of the other nations, so don’t expect them to do anything extraordinary. However, it is good to see that the British are going to get some equivalents to the other nations and hopefully they will be able to find their place in the game.

As always, feel free to discuss below and I shall keep you updated when the next one drops.

The scout main rotor head was used during design of the German mbb.
    Scout was a flying landrover
    Pretty much unstoppable
