9.15 Physics and Sounds

Hello,

as been reported in the recent Q&As, these are some of the things that you can expect from 9.15 patch:

Physics

“Frequent flipping of vehicles when driving at high speed on irregular terrain”

-The vehicles “gravity” has been increased, they will be harder to flip when manoeuvring.

“Vehicles getting stuck after partial hull contact with an obstacle (houses, rocks, enemy vehicles, etc.)”

-The bug has been fixed, vehicles will be able to turn while in contact with obstacles as they are meant to.

“A large amount of damage received when falling”

-The durability of the vehicles will be increased, making them harder to get damaged when crashing against objects or landing.

Sounds

Wargaming will be:

  • Improving the sound of a shell hitting a tank
  • Adding a switch-on sound for Binocular Telescope and Camouflage Net
  • Revising criteria of changing the sound of damage penetration, depending on the number of HP taken: 0-17% – small damage, 17-35% – medium damage, more than 35% – high damage
  • Adding the ability to select the type of speaker system (2.0 or 2.1) in the settings menu
  • Supporting modifications of sound component of WoT.

thank you wargaming. Its embarrassing to keep flipping elc amx’s back over, and dying from going down a cliff face. It was funny the first couple of times, not aymore.

      1. Gkirmathal says:

With the new physics: the higher the speed = better maneuverability in turning left/right,
Reversing is low in speed, thus maneuverability, turning left/right while reversing, is worse.

Any tank can still obtain its reverse speeds, this was not changed, but as maneuverability (left/right) is a function of forward/backward speed, one can say it has a negative impact on especially reversing ones tank.

I didn’t think the flipping was too much of an issue; only had one big flip in the Bromwell. The short falls that do huge damage was a problem; once lost all 1600 HP in the Lorraine after sliding down a small hill.

I’ve experienced that with the Chaffee as well, it’s so easy to drift and flip, even on flat terrain, but due to its shape, it’s able to flip itself back upright and continue as if nothing happened.

  3. Landric says:

How about we just remove flipping? Sure, it might be more “realistic”, but the game isn’t realistic, so that is a non-issue anyway. What it does add is a whole new level of stupidity and additional opportunities for griefers with zero positive effect on game play. Who at Wargaming thought this was a needed change in the first place? Warthunder has it, but that should have been the first clue it was a bad idea, not something to implement.

    1. Teobold Tor says:

Warthunder also has a towrope to unflip tanks, and while I don’t like WT that is a good way of doing it. Although I agree, flipping tanks is a rather pointless addition.

    2. pixywing says:

Having my flip over and then flip itself back over sure is realistic, I have had this happen over a half dozen times in this patch already.

  4. Teobold Tor says:

Good, tenks are flipping far too easily and while it may be realistic it isn’t fun for gameplay. At least they’re listening to the players this time, both with the physics and the sounds.

    1. Teknokraatti says:

A bit of a shame. Making a cartwheel is genuinely rather confusing and effective strategy against enemies when driving the M41 bulldog. Been there, done that. Had fun at the same time too.

They’re finally doing something so that I won’t see a tank crash every game? Thank god! Hopefully they change it so my tank doesn’t randomly “walk” up walls.

  6. wolvenworks says:

there’s no mention of the promised fix method to unflip your tank by yourself when no allies are there to help you

  7. Gkirmathal says:

This is very nice new in my opinion. The gravity on tanks just seemed rather off and I am glad they tweaked it. Hope we can test it soon!

One thing just coming to mind, on EU general is a thread showing hard to reach places on some maps. How much could the gravity tweak influence getting to these places?

On a second note about the above. wouldn’t some of these places be better if WG opened up those parts of the map, by adding mountain road for example.

    Called it. Lawnmower stays. (Sad…)

    Check YouTube and co.
There you find how tanks sound.
    Spare me ur fanboyism…

    Sounds ain’t real.
    Sounds ain’t arcade/Hollywood
    Shesh… Kinda half asses. 🙁

  9. Rick says:

Funny how they defend their initial release as accurate physics, even getting Chieftian to have a special stream defending them and blaming our perception or hardware ,yet they change it up.Keep up the wishy washyness WG.We expect no less.
