If you currently use any of the mods in this article you have till June to remove them. From the Portal.
We’re constantly studying your feedback in order to keep abreast of the most discussed topics within the community — mods. One of your biggest concerns is Fair Play and the use of so-called “cheat mods”. These unauthorized third-party modifications give those who use them an unfair advantage and spoiling your fun in battles.
Over the past three years, we’ve been carefully monitoring the use of unfair World of Tanks modifications and punishing cheaters during massive ban waves. Ensuring Fair Play will always be our top priority, and today we’re ready to take new measures to keep the play dynamics as fair as possible.
Updating the List of Prohibited Software
Thanks to your feedback and continuous monitoring, we’ve identified several new modifications that give those players who use them some advantages over the rest. These are obviously unfair, so we decided to add the following types of mods to the list of prohibited software:
1. Showing the direction of guns on the minimap
2. Displaying arrows to the closest opponents
3. Marking adversaries beyond the draw distance (using red columns, spheres, etc.)
So far, these modifications are not forbidden yet – the new Fair Play Policy rules will come into force on June 1. However, we’re taking this opportunity to notify you in advance, so if you’re currently using these mods, please remove them.
NOTE: In the near future, we’ll initiate another massive ban wave, based on the current (non-updated) version of our Fair Play Policy. However, the following ban wave will take into account the updated list of cheats, and we’ll definitely penalize those who continue to use the above-mentioned unfair mods, contrary to our warnings.
Which Modifications Will Be Penalized? A New Wording
We also decided to clarify some criteria according to which we consider mods as cheating, harmful and unwelcome. To this end, we’ve rephrased some of the wording in our Fair Play Policy to make it more accurate and precise. We all need it to ensure that cheaters have no chances to spoil your mood and make the game less enjoyable for responsible Commanders.
So, here is an updated list of criteria for prohibited modifications. Players found using them will be penalized (the modified wording is in bold):
- Revealing the positions of enemies in a way not included in the vanilla client. Marking objects destroyed on the playing field, altering the display of shell flight tracers or calculating and displaying the position of enemy artillery with tracers, as well as those that keep spotted vehicles displayed, even when a player is not aiming at them and isn’t in their line of sight
- Making it easier to block an enemy’s shell by indicating their exact aiming point (for example, with a laser beam)
- Alerting you when spotted vehicles are reloading, including displaying an enemy’s reloading timer
- Auto-aim – or “aimbots” – that provide more functionality than the “aim lock” in the vanilla client, including those that aim at the enemy’s weak spots, or at weakly armored vehicles/at enemy vehicles in general, and also fix the sight on the target behind an obstacle or calculate the lead instead of the player
-
Enabling automatic use of non-Premium consumables before the announcement of results of the battle
- Aiding in finding enemies by letting you adjust the transparency of objects on the map
- Leaving any tags or indicators located on the playing field where the opponent was spotted by someone from the player’s team
- Any direct alteration of the physical properties, performance characteristics, or effects of any vehicle or object in the game, or otherwise subverting the game rules
Let’s take the game seriously and play fair! Just remember: players who are caught using forbidden mods for the first time, will receive a warning and a suspension of 7 days. Players found using them for the second time will be permanently banned.

So cheating by creating wins/loses with mm isnt banned yet
Good players in platoon do not want to be with apes in team to balance skills.
Balance skills could mean only good players on both sides. But apparently it’s too hard to understand.
WG fighting mods in WoT does the same what did in WoWP – reduces situational awareness mostly for good players, as poor ones are unaware by default.
And surprise, surprise – number of players constantly goes down.
It is hard to balance platoon of great players, so no skill based mm
All those people ban for using aimbots and WGing adds it to the Wheelies only calling it “improved aiming”. People are getting sick of WGing and it seem they are not smart enough to see their own faults. God I wish WGing would go under and another company would take over and fix this game, after this many years it’s not going to happen in the current.
if wg want get rid of mods – they simply can do that. but they don’t want it. and if supertester who have 1 shot/battle record with 279e or those rare tanks russian td with 777 or something is deciding which tank need nerf, or which mods is bad.. then i have no words.
as for mods, 1 and 2 removed mods is bad idea, maybe 1st is ok. but second.. actually that one is very useful. but what can we do? nothing. 🙂 just accept that.
WG just simply cannot remove all modes. Modding community is huge and people will be pissed.
There is no point telling everyone what mods to use or not to use, when there is no effective way or enforcing it.
WG…. fairplay… thats a big joke… they will never do WOT a fairplay game. Why?! Lets think about… money!?
