Nope. I’m satisfied now. It’s a premium, it’s not supposed to be better than standard tier 8s and right now it’s better than the Centurion 1 in all aspects but speed. I loved the Centurion 1 and got 2 MoE on it. This buffed 4202 now has better gun performance, better ROF, better hull armour (but both suck) and they both have troll turrets. The cent 1 has a better turret but they are both unreliable as he’ll so I’d say this is now fine for a tier 8 premium. That gun performance is sick. It’s as good as the B barrel on the Centurion 7/1 now other than ROF.

      1. Anonymous says:

no its not, buff the speed to 40kph and its still worse than the Cent 1. its still got worse reload, no turret armour, and gun handling even with the buff

      2. Jack Kenyon says:

It already had a better rate of fire. The Centurion 1 has about a 7.5 second reload which is the worst DPM of tier 8 mediums. The 4202 has a 6.7 reload with same crew. I know I played both on a cousins account and the cent 1 on my own both with top quality crews.

      3. Go to tanks.gg and you can see the RoF is identical for both tanks. The reload modifiers are: Rammer, Vents, Food Consumable and BiA. Giving each tank all of the reload modifiers results in the same shortest reload time of 6.33s, with a default reload of 7.67s (100% crew).

The proposed buffs (above) do not change the rate of fire.

      4. Jack Kenyon says:

Then why did my Centurion 1 have a 7.5 second reload with 100% crew, a Rammer, and BIA? Scratch BIA I may have given them that after I got the 7/1 but an identical crew in the 4202 is granting a 6.7 reload

      5. I cannot tell you why your Centurion Mk 1 does not have the same stats as every other Cent Mk 1 in the game. That is a most strange anomaly.

I played through the Cent Mk 1 a few weeks ago (on my grind to the CAX in order to unlock the FV4202 (P)). I was playing it with Vert Stab/Rammer/Coated Optics and the crew from the Cromwell B (BiA on crew). My reload time was 6.75s – this correlates with the information at tanks.gg.

The only way to have a 7.5s reload is to have either Vents, or BiA and nothing else that improves reload time. It is literally impossible to have a reload time of 6.7s with 6.61s and 6.75s being the closest reload times.

It doesn’t really matter too much, but I just didn’t want you to be disappointed when you discovered the FV4202 (P)’s dpm is identical to the Centurion Mk 1 when given the same equipment/crew.

        🙂 glhf anyway!

  1. usable? it’s a good tank, i have a crew with 4th skill on 80% and gun behaves very well, the only thing they could buff on this tank is that awful 35 speed limit -.-‘ wrong buff, WG, u screwed up one more time…

    1. ripwg says:

indeed…. buff the gun … srsly , it already had one of best guns than any other premium medium tank. now made it almost like a german sniper with better pen than regular tier 8 tanks.

      1. 230mm pen on a tier 8 medium is already the best :/ stop wanting more unjustified buffs.

This is heavy tank penetration. Even some tier 9 med dont have that much pen. This tank is a sniper, not a brawler nor a flanker. It’s made to play from far and snipe targets, and the pen is amazing for its class/tier, and accuracy as well.

This tank does its job well. It is not a centurion, that’s all.

      2. Darkstar says:

“Almost like a German sniper” have you even played the later British mediums? Want to guess what other tier 8 medium has 226 pen and that accuracy? The Centurion. Now it’ll just be a slower Cent that makes money.

      3. repofox says:

It has the best pen of all tier 8 premium MT’s, and still some people wants to buff the gun? seriously?

      4. Anonymous says:

it doesnt have the best gun on a t8 med, it just has the best penetration. all other gun stats are from mediocre too bad, those gunhandling buffs were necessary, who cares about 14mm more of penetration compared to a CDC, if the gun is worse in every other aspect

      1. That Dashing Rogue says:

You know, I wouldn’t even mind if they kept the speed limit the same, as long as they buffed the power-to-weight ratio. 35kph wouldn’t be quite so terrible if you could hit that top speed quick, and maintain it no matter the incline or terrain.

    1. Anonymous says:

Hull UFP is pretty beast, due to the ridiculous slope. QB bounced 2 out of 3 shells on that in his tier 9/10 skoda on level ground!

I’d say the tank is fine now, if they’d improve the top speed as well it would be better than the cent almost.

    1. Matthew Shine says:

“ANONYMOUS SAYS: Well done WG, changing a mission reward after mission is done.
      Like”

It will be available for purchase in the shop soon, that’s the real reason they have to buff it, not many people like paying a lot of money for a crap tank.

  2. I don’t know why everyone is complaining about the speed. With this buff, it’s already very comparable to the Centurion Mk 1. Top speed is one of the few things the Centurion has left over the FV4202. Even before the buff, reaching the top speed with this tank was easy, and now with the resistance buff it’ll take hills like a boss. It may overall be more mobile than the Centurion. Wargaming is trying not to make overpowered premium tanks (in this case, anyway), and there’s still a lot of complaining…

    1. That Dashing Rogue says:

Not with a power-to-weight ratio of only 12… There are several heavy tanks with better p/w ratios than that. If they kept the speed the same and boosted the p/w to, say 18 at the least, preferably 20, it would be soooo much better.

      1. It always reaches its top speed without a problem on the flat. That terrain resistance buff may not change everything, but it is pretty significant. Plus it will now snap shot and aim for weak spots with ease.

It would be so much better with a better hp/t ratio, but… should it be? Personally, I don’t think so. We don’t need prem tanks being better than their non-prem counterparts. We already have a few prems that are probably too strong. At the very least, the FV4202 is very capable of doing damage with these buffs. It’ll be a strong ridge fighter, and it’s not too slow to get into position. It doesn’t need the extra speed for flanking when it can pen almost everything from the front using only standard shells.

I want this tank, and another buff would be cool. But… I don’t want to see a swarm of FV4202s every battle.

      2. Anonymous says:

Power to weight is a 100% meaningless stat. Power to weight divided by resistances is what you need to be looking at, and it was better for that than the Centurion even before the buff. Now its effective horsepower is better than that of the CDC ffs, there’s no need for more buffing here.

  3. Matthew Shine says:

    Still not worth the grind.
Anyone with a job would be better off doing a couple of hours overtime rather than spending 10-14 days grinding…

    1. Anonymous says:

The tank is awesome and now one of my favourite tanks turret armor is a beast on this tank . My stats After 60 fights are 2.4k dmg average and blocked 1.6 time what i received

  4. ___Noli__me_Tangere says:

Buff is not bad but there should be cheaper ammo, this is prem tank, so why ammo cost 600 credits + ?!?!!??!!?!?!? this should be changed first!

  5. ___Noli__me_Tangere says:

Buff is not bad but there should be cheaper ammo, this is prem tank, so why ammo cost 600 credits + ?!?!!??!!?!?!? this should be changed first! Why it’s slower tank than more heavies ;f it’s med! come on!

  6. Acceleration says:

This tank doesn’t need a buff on speed i would like this tank to hage better acceleration because 12,34 hp/t isn’t that great also if they could give this tank maybe a 700 or 750 hp engine it would be a lot better. Or maybe just give this tank like a 38 km/h top speed but not 40 otherwise the centurion 1 is more like a downgrade than this tank.

  7. Anonymous says:

20 pounder Type B barrel is STILL not the same stats as the gun you get for the Centurion 7/1 . Thumbs down . Thank you for the info post

    1. Anonymous says:

Like I said elsewhere…it’s nearly identical to an upgraded Centurion 1 now.

      Better dispersion on the move
Worse dispersion on full speed traverse
      Everything else is the same.

People whining about the speed/power to weight need to realize that WG’s rule of “better than stock, worse than upgraded” applies to everything that isn’t Soviet or German (the former because lolbias, the latter because “look, we’re not biased!”). If it wasn’t a faily poorly-armored slug, there wouldn’t be anything to balance out the gun, and it’d be nerfed in a few patches.

As a normal, everyday premium tank, it’s now right around where it should be. I’m not saying they shouldn’t buff it further – the more the merrier – but this is definitely where it should have started out. The gun handling feels MUCH better now.

Need to reduce shell price. Profitibility of tank is very bad compered to cdc or fcm. One shell cost ~600 silver and do only 230 dmg, compering to 255 silver and 240 on fcm…

  9. Anonymous says:

The only thing they needed to buff was the speed and they failed to do it. Sorry if I did not get it for free due to having the ten prior to the change I would never get it as it is way to slow.

  10. 2goxd says:

Grind was easy, tank is good, after the buff it will be even better.

Problem – shit net profit. With 3k+ dmg game, win, 15 fired, 14 shots i net only 25k credits.
    Tank repair is ! 10k ! (others cost about 7-8k )
    SHELL COST 680 cr ?!

Just because i died and fired 15 shells i had to play 21k or something. I got about 46k profit from 14 hits and payed 21k for all that shit so i was left with 25k net.
    Playing T-54 mod. 1 i net 50k with 2500 dmg even if i die. WIth 3k+ games i get 60k.

    All standard account !

  11. Anonymous says:

Those numbers say nothing to me, all i know is this tank is currently unplayable. Maybe the changes make it playable, and, I hope, enjoyable

  12. linktoinsanity says:

It needs a 40Km/h top speed, at least the gun has been buffed but it needs a little more. The Centurions need a buff to 45Km/h though imo…

  13. septfox says:

I wonder if this comment will disappear too : |

The only thing it really needs left is better profitability. Even good games don’t make an especially large amount of credits. More than enough to sustain it, sure, but not as much as a tier 8 premium really should.

  14. djwojtas says:

Looks like massive buff for me. Aimtime and terrain resistance is what i don’t like in this tank. I don’t really care about that 35 kmh speed since it’s not a medium to rush.

  15. S842 says:

The FV43202 P is now a fine tank. It should not have the 40 kph speed of the Centurion or it would be better than the Centurion. As to the discussion on reload speed, I often fight my Cent I crew in the FV and the reload IS EXACTLY THE SAME for both tanks – 6.60 seconds with rammer/vents/BIA.
