Just a heads up, much like the Krupp-Steyr WT, the tier 7 premium Soviet KV-122 has gone on sale on the Russian server. http://worldoftanks.ru/ru/news/pc-browser/11/special-kv122-13-dec-2016/

main tankinfo-2-1

Other servers probably won’t be far behind with receiving this and the Krupp-Steyr WT, given the North American server is supposed to get two brand new and never before seen vehicles on December 20th and 21st. http://worldoftanks.com/en/news/pc-browser/22/december-overview/

It would sure be nice to.have something on the SEA, other than Pz I’M, and hydrostat bubbles for upwards of $100. Advent has sucked ass this year.

For those of you that are going “hang on, this looks familiar” this is basically our old friend the KV-1S made into a premium tank and raised up to tier 7, much like they did when they created the Panzer 4S.

    1. Renarde Martel says:

The irony here is that our old KV-1S didn’t actually go away. It got renamed to KV-85 and nerfed, while it’s stock configuration was split off into a tier 5. KV-85 is historically a turret and gun upgrade for the KV-1S, with experimentally mounted 100mm and 122mm guns.

      1. Anonymous says:

Could be worse like the e50. Only difference between that and the M on paper was moving the transmission to the back of the vehicle.

      2. Renarde Martel says:

Lucasgreencheeseco: it’s ironic because this is literally a tank available in the tech tree at a lower tier, as the KV-85 still has the 122mm gun. Plus, if you want a KV-85 with 122mm gun on tier 7… just get the IS? Or even the Chinese IS-2?
Not to mention the existence of the IS-2 Berlin premium.

So the KV-122 is not a removed tank in any way, which the Panzer 4 Schmalturm is. There has never been anything more copypaste than this vehicle.

    1. Teknokraatti says:

110 is a T8 heavy with very good frontal armour and pretty good mobility. It defecates on all the other candidates with impunity.

Out of the T7 heavies, the KV-122 has a decent speed advantage (8km/h faster top limit than any T7 IS-variant and decent 15 HP/ton) and beats even the Russian IS due to bit better terrain resistances. The KV-122 also has 0,2 sec better aimtime and 0,01 better bloom values than the IS variants. It also has 10m more VR.

However, it has 150 less DPM and MASSIVELY worse hull armour (Flat, 75mm front and 60mm sides) than that of the IS-1 (120mm odd-shaped front, 90mm sides) and that of both IS-2s (90-100mm angled front, 90mm sides).

I’d say that the contenders for the best place are the Russian IS-1 and the Chinese IS-2. The Russian IS-1 has some frontal armour, 90mm sides, good DPM and good mobility, while the Chinese tank has way better prem round than any other tank in this bunch (250mm pen HEAT).

    2. SOVJETBIAS says:

The contest is between the KV-122 and the IS-2 Berlin, as the Berlin is undoubtfully the best among the IS tanks. It only gets the inferior IS-2 gun handling while getting all the best stats among both of its brothers.
The IS-2 B is a heavium, with alpha, HP, acceptable mobility, bouncy armor (althoug unreliable) while this one will be played even more like a medium: comfy speed and better gun stats while keeping the stupid alpha, at the cost of armor. I am curious about its dispersion values.
Finally, the Berlin comes with its P2W crew.

I guess it depends of what you prefer gameplay-wise.

    1. SCARed says:

well, perhaps they realised, that this combination was just hilariously OP on tier 6 (mobility, alpha and gun-depr plus a little low, but not awfull DPM). and they would get rather angry screams of all the owners of IS-line tanks, as they (be it IS, IS-2 (chinese) oder IS-2 Berlin) all have way worse depression (-6 or even -5 for the chinese).

I played the old KV-1S and it WAS overpowered. the KV-85 with the 100mm is still nice, but the gun-depr limits you quite often. and the 122mm is nowadays almost useless, because of the gun-dep and the rewally awfull DPM.

  3. Honcho says:

122mm has decent alpha but the low dpm will make you look bad in brawls with heavy tanks with 100mm, 90mm or 88mm guns. You need teammates that protect you from enemies that try to take advantage of your slow reload.
Iam still interested though. My biggest issue with the tank is the looks of it. Its just another kv tank.
