Hello,
a redditor, HeinrichVonDoucheber caught my attention and gave me authorization to use his O-I Exp’s Firepower spreadsheet that compares this tank to other similar vehicles:
TANK | TIER | DAMAGE | RELOAD |
---|---|---|---|
O-I Exp | V | 300 | 9.69 |
ARL 44 | VI | 300 | 10.69 |
T-150 | VI | 300 | 10.20 |
T29 | VII | 320 | 11.41 |
AMX M4 45 | VII | 300 | 9.60 |
T32 | VIII | 320 | 10.60 |
Tiger II | VIII | 320 | 10.40 |
VK 45.02A | VIII | 320 | 10.10 |
110 | VIII | 320 | 10.00 |
HeinrichVonDoucheber says:
“So here is the table with comparison of reload time on O-I Exp and other heavies that have guns with similar average damage. Reload times were taken from wiki page, which accounts for fully trained crew, and no equipment. So O-I Exp beats all those tier VI, VII and VIII tanks except AMX M4 45, which reloads just 0.09 seconds faster.
I just don’t see what is such a gun doing in tier V. If it had horrible penetration or huge reload than you could say it’s compensated by that, but it doesn’t, it has excellent penetration for its tier and it reloads faster than 3 tiers higher tanks. It can 2 shot other heavies in its tier with AP shell, and since it has excellent penetration you don’t even have to aim at the weak spots. Tier V and VI games are infested with O-I Exp and O-I, there is not a single game without at least 1-3 of those per team.”
Another spreadsheet, made by killswitch247, O-I Exp’s compared to other tier V heavies:

killswitch247 says:
“The problem with the O-I experimental is that it’s best in class or a close second in all important stats. it isn’t weak in any way to balance out its strengths.”
What you think about this vehicle and Japanese heavies in general?
I personally find that World of Tanks was a better place before the Japanese Heavies came into the scene. For you guys, Japanese HTs are that inebriated guy who at a Gents WC will get uncomfortably close to you and then piss on your shoes. They just get on the way, push you around and most of the time are nothing but a HP to farm team slot waster with the aptitude and accuracy of a drunk men that eventually will get lucky enough to one shot kill a poor sod.
Lately, when I wish I was playing other games and/or feelling like quitting the game for the day is when I see one of those coming around the corner.
I also created 2 different nicknames to Japanese HTs depending how good the player driving is, “Trailer Trash” and “Mobile Japanese home”, the last kind is very rare to spot.
Better than old tier 5 KV in almost every way…
But nobody gives a shit because it’s not a Soviet tank. 🙂
Love your avatar/ 😀
wg just made tanks like the matilda 4 and the chi nu kai unplayable, purely UNPLAYABLE against those japanese shit tanks, matilda 4 with 102 pen on gold : ))) the OI Exp just snaphots your ass and you can’t even really hurt him with gold !
And the matilda used to be Op.
Rita, why do You say that Japanese tanks are bad for game? Maybe tier 5-7 are a bit harder to deal with, but other tier jap heavies arent very good at all. And about tier 5, its total paper-tank. Ok it should have longer reload and slower speed, because no way 100 ton tank can move that fast. Tier 6 has good armor and gun, that tank can also be a bit nerfed. Tier 7 is good overall and not OP, american T29 is way better than O-Ni. Tier 8 O-Ho is not very good, that armor doesnt help much vs 200+ penetration. Previously many talked about heavies being too bad armored and weak vs gold ammo, arties and TD, and now everyone complains when meets true heavy tank. What is wrong with you all, you should complain about arty, not about slow heavy tank which can defend itself only with armor.
Personally i have elited all jap heavies up to tier 9, will buy Typ 4 soon.
Despite all this data to make the O-I exp sound op it really is not. Its large awkward design makes it a huge target for arty and gold rounds and pretty much anything else that can pen its flat 75mm armor. Playing a heavy tank I track them before they even cross the corner. Playing a td I pen them every time from where they can’t see me. Playing arty I use heat or apcr rounds no matter the distance as I know it will pen. Playing a med or light is even easier! I can flank them or simply go right beside their tank. These are the tactics employed against any casual to ‘pro’ player Jap tank.
Eziest kill of my life.
Hmm would made it more legit if you didn’t play 1140 battles with kv1 using derp gun,but hey let’s whine about O-I exp, because it’s op as fuck.Let’s not forget the is3 so balanced tank you have 2,4 k battles in it etc etc.
yep,the game is ruined at those lower tiers with the japanese heavys.all noobs now play some OI shit tanks cause they are noobs and have big guns and godlike armor!
I think its a very noob-friendly tank, like mobile arty…. a player with average skill and higher should have no trouble with it. Most trouble is same tier heavies (V)… they should just go where the O-I isnt.
Tiers 5-6 are ruined by Jap heavies, completely ruined.
Also, the T67 is grossly OP, tier 5 battles are infested by those as well for obvious reasons.
http://www.vbaddict.net/statistics.php?tier=5&tanktype=3&nation=0&premium=1&modeid=0&team=0&battles=1000&groupby=0&fieldname=won_lost_ratio&server=
If you look at numbers they don’t lie. On Vbaddict data pool it is clear, among non premium T5 heavies, O-I exp. has:
– the best winrate
– the best accuracy
– the best damage dealt
– the best penetration rate
– the best number kills per battle
armour is quite weak instead since he got
– the worst number of shot w/o damage per game
– the worst damage/ratio
By the way is also the best earner with the best net income per battle.
Definetely OP.
if you look at O-I, the situation is much more balanced with KV-2 and M6 to battle with as best tank. From 7 to 10 japanese tanks are good in some aspects and bad to others. Thus O-I exp. should be nerfed imho.
They are way too OP. No only their guns are better but they are also so tough to pen. They blew it with this jap heavies.
I sold the KV-1 when I got the O-I exp.
By the way, “experimental” is “Shisei” in Japanese.
Shorten the “O-I Shisei”, called the “Oishi”
“Oishii” is “Delicious” in English.
Yeah, O-I exp is Delicious!

my personal experience? O-I is where people started praying they have arty on their team to take the beast down.
also, OIX has the armor of a medium tank. you can’t spit out massive damage if you’re dead (or with damaged gun, rack and gunner)
