Obj. 257 (T-10 Replacement?)

Good day everyone,

So, there is a distinct possibility that the current Tier 9 Soviet heavy, the T-10, may be replaced by a new Soviet prototype in an effort to make the gameplay of the IS-7 line a bit more consistant. The Obj. 257 has already appeared in testing as a possible premium, but now it seems that a new place has been found for it. When will this change occur, if it does? No exact word on that yet, nor any word on what will happen to the T-10.

Removement of the T-10 from the tree is rather unlikely. A new branch would be more fitting. Though it would be yet another russian line… :/

Seems like you are unaware of WG’s new policy that “All tanks on the same line from tier 8 to 10 MUST have an identical play style”

Incase you fail to pick up on what that means, the T-10 does NOT conform to this doctrine.

      2. OrigamiChik3n says:

Developers hinted on Russian WoT forum that there MIGHT be two sub-branches leading from IS-3. One – current “slow and heavy armour breakthrough tanks” Object 257/IS-7. Another – “mobile less armoured fire support” starting with T-10 at tier 9. Worth noting though is that even developers themselves call this option a “subject of debate”.

How about making it so that there will be 2 tier 9’s that lead to the is7. A lot like how u can research both jpanther 2 and Ferdinand from tier 7 jpanther and that they both lead to jagtiger. So, we would have both t10 and this tank at tier 9 so people can grind through the one that they prefer to the is7

Good thinking. I would make it a crossover tank from the t44 to the is-7 line. Sort of the reverse of how the KV-13 leads from a heavy to the med line.

What the fuck??? T-10 is THE ONLY (except some autoloaders) heavy tank I enjoy in this stupid game and you tell me they gonna just take it away??? FU WG and realy!!!! Just go make some more retarded type5s and mauses branches for spamming heat at, fuck all at-least-some-skill-needed-to-be-good-at heavy tanks. Did I forgot to mention FU WG??? Well, FU!

If you like the T-10, play the WZ-111 1-4, it’s essentially the same with a better armor profile and a better gun. As a Heavy Medium, it really doesn’t fit with the IS-3 and IS-7.

But hey, we might see a line grow off of that, though I would wonder what it would be like? Fast 122mm platforms?

  3. kingtrygon says:

Well I can see why they would do this. I think the T-10 could still be kept though and could lead to Object 777, a tank they have been sitting on for a long time. I have always felt like the T-10 deserved a 113/WZ-111 5A style tier 10 to lead into. Going from the T-10 to the IS-7 was severely disappointing for me.

Best and most accurate comment I’ve read here regarding T-10 offspring tanks, keep up the great work KingTrygon. Here’s my comment on “Inside the Chieftain’s Hatch Object 268 part 1 [World of Tanks]”, a year ago I wrote the following:

“8:42 next to the Object 268, behind Nicholas Moran, is Object 277 Heavy Tank. Object 277 was derived from T-10M just like Object 268 was, but it’s frontal armor glacis-wise and turret-wise is superior to both tanks, thanks to its unique rounded bow. I hope to see Object 277 in World of Tanks some day. Cheers =D”

        Best regards.

    1. so 150 heavly angeled front plate with 350 turrent is the best answer? how the hell can i pen this monster with my chi-ri 155pen? Thanks to spaced armour, i cant even pen the side of this thing

The way wg wants you too, gold ammo…dont forget the new mclaren is out and they want to buy gold plated ones for the hole stuff.

  4. OOPSAA says:

Only some nerfs on gun stats and HP for the Object? Better nerf it on the armour as well…. Turret armour 350mm? Idiotic….. Even stronger then the turret of the IS-7 and as good as object 260, this one perfoms still as a tier 10

  5. I’m just wondering, how it is gonna improve the branch consistency if it’s basically the same vehicle with maybe a bit more armour and maybe a bit less manoeuvrable.
T-10 on the other hand is an iconic tank and Obj. 257 is just another clone prototype…

  6. Anonymous says:

I hope the t-10 will actually be used in a separate line that will lead to the obj 777!!!!!

answer my prayers wargaming, rngseus 😉

  7. Anonymous says:

Why has noone yet pointed out that wg is again making a smart decision of replacing one of the few historical tanks for another borderline-fake tank with as much armor as the defender because more people need top use gold ammo.

  8. dandrew2000 says:

Could this be a reward for the next season of personal missions? I don’t really think the T-10 needs to be replaced, but I guess it’s possible.

  9. The Osprey published “Soviet T-10 Heavy Tank and Variants” contains plenty of potential vehicles for an entire seperate high-tier heavy tank branch, and that’s just one fucking book.
I know there was that one tier 10 turreted soviet TD, the Object 268 Ver.4 or 5, which was based off the T-10 and could provide an interesting option, basically as a soviet T110E4. The Object 277 is also a good option; basically just a longer, tougher T-10 with the IS-7’s 130mm gun.
Either way, I’m just happy that I’m finally in position to get one of these free high-tier tank swaps.

  10. Mikosah says:

    Butwhytho?

What’s wrong with the current IS-3, T-10, IS-7 progression? Why throw in yet another boring clone into the mix?

  11. Infernal969 says:

Gotta love that “brilliant” idea of making every line into a boring and dull slugfest where the only difference between tanks is the repair bill. Whoever runs WoT right now is a complete retard.
