I wonder what the penetration and accuracy of that 8.8cm KwK L/100 gun will be. The 7.5cm KwK L/100 gun is around 198mm, with .32 accuracy, so perhaps 235mm with .31 accuracy?
I can see people will be play more like snipers then was before! aaa god that gun !
Smaller in length, turret was put a bit more to the back… The gun? Same as the tier IX one on the E50. I really dont believe they will give this oldtimer 223 pen!
The L/71 should gave this much pen, but of course WG still can’t transform 30 degree armor to 0 degree from their ruskie sources :^)
The L/71 has 43 calibers; the L/100 has 46. Different calibers, different penetration.
I’m pretty sure they both have the same caliber (8.8cm) but the L/71 is 71 calibers long while the
L/100 is 100 calibers long so increased pen for the longer gun due to more room for the gases to expand (increasing impulse and therefore momentum).
In fact it had less penetration than it has now. german L71 is overbuffed.
Caliber does not mean penetration…dont say things you dont know anything about.
Caliber is a measurement of one aspect of a shell. There are other measurements that affect penetration more than caliber.
For example .308 and 30-06 share the same caliber bullet. Yet the 30-06 has much more force behind it.
Yeap, not going to endure this discussion. Yes, you are right.
However, smaller barrel lenght, smaller pen.
PS: I love your copy paste. 😉
Calibers in this case is a measure of barrel length,
@OBERONIUM
if 88 has over buffed pen, so does all guns in game. Ruskie source says 122 DT 25-T had 131 pen on 100 meters, in game we have 175mm
Sherman had 98 mm pen, in game 125mm. German guns use 30 degree angle, so should all, but not in this game.
“L” Isn’t the caliber…The L stands for….well, length (Länge). The number after the L is the number of times the calibers long the gun is. (How many times will 88 go into its length. A .50 cal gun that is 1 inch long has a length of 1.). An 88 L100 is 8.8 meters long, an 88 L71 is 6.2 meters long, and an 88 L56 is 4.9 meters long. So on and so fourth. 88 (Caliber) L100 (Length).
@ Heldermartins1: this comment is bullshit if i may say that 😀 The L/71 has a length of 71 calibers (approx: 5,68meters), whereas the L/100 has a 100 caliber length (ca. 8,8meters).
Would be nice though if it kept the 223pen like the E50 has, decent gun imho
I dont give a crap!! 🙂 🙂
It’s going to have a real gun, finally!! 0.288 accuracy… Im fapping already!!
of course they’re doing it after I finish grinding the panther 2 and have started the grind on the e50
Guess the Panther is finally getting some much needed love, I’m looking forward to how it will turn out. I do hope they won’t kill the dpm though, that’s the main selling point of the Panther II, kind of surprised they just didn’t buff the 75 so it had strong dpm, I like running that gun from time to time because it’s hilarious and a challenge to do well with. Maybe if I get my hopes up, the 75 could fire as fast as the E25 and make the gun choice between 88 and 75 really interesting.
Curious to know how that would be in the live server
Problem with giving such a gun, to a tier 8, is that they may have to do it to other tier 8 mediums, and give them a small tap of re-balance, to even get close to that. It is nice that it is getting a ‘re-balance’ but this is also proof that the power creep is real.
Best part is…I have the Panther 2 unlocked but have yet to grind it ^_^
sweet =P
I still have the Panther II after going through the E50. Gives me reason to bring her out once and a while. Love the E50 line.
will any of those changes will applied to panther 88 ?
Is that a buff to 150 mm front that I see?
Very good news, I unexpectedly like every German mid tier HT/MT, but Panther II felt too mediocre in everything. I’ll gladly welcome buff/slight playstyle tweak, but two potential significant buff? That would be almost too good to be true.
120*
Upper front hull is about 80mm to 100mm, from my eyes. Not sure. Plus, the scale of armour thickness only goes to 120mm, 150mm is on the spaced armour side, which is the gun mantlet.
Pen is not the problem of this tank. It’s the terrible mobility.
I don’t think so. Panther II’s mobility isn’t its trump card, but it’s sniping capabilities and armour penetration. Plus, the L/100 also gives some adequate APCR, something the L/71 doesn’t have.
Yeah, we all know how useful is sniping in the current corridor meta.
Well, at least it will now struggle less with penning heavies frontally. That is, if they don’t give it worse DPM than the L/71, otherwise it’s an absolutely useless change.
L/71 is 71X88 mm barrel length, L/100 is 100X88mm
New gun is great! It used to be an expensive, yet must-have thing on the E 50. It’s expensive, but you will have to get it first. Not to mention how much it would improve Panther II’s performance, from sth with Centurion I’s cons and more, to a real fire support + sniper tank with sth to boast of.
I hope they will not fuck up the tank’s basic dimensions like in the case of HD Panther. If a vehicle itself is too high, WG will make it even higher. Then it will be a year-long problem to alter its suspension to the real level. I think (bela)russian brains are still waging the war against hordes of Panthers, Tigers, Artshturms and Ferdinands, whose should be eradicated by all means possible.
Spoken like a true capitalist!!
