Pillars of Progress: Special Tanks

Hello,

took advantage that things been quiet and imposed myself some much needed rest, away from the PC, back now, anyway…

Over EU server, they were selling a package for  99.99 which comes with 30,500 Gold but things get interesting, for those who buy this package they will receive the following, depending how old their account is:

  • 1 year: Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. D
  • 1-2 years: LTP
  • 2-3 years: FCM 36 Pak 40
  • Over 3 years: Pz.Kpfw. 38H 735 (f)

Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. D: I actually just realized I’ve had this in my garage for probably years and never did a battle with it. Its, alrightish…

LTP should be more TTP, so instead of “Learn to Play” it could be “Try to Play”.

FCM 36 Pak 40: No longer available on Premium Store is not so easy to obtain nowadays, I actually like this bugger, may be very sluggish but its gun and view range makes for it

I have to say, the Pz.Kpfw. 38H 735 (f) is not that great any more, I have one since 2012 and with the introduction of certain vehicles is not as much fun as it was back in the day.

Would I buy this package? No, but I recommend it if you are a Premium vehicle collector.

      1. Not quite… this was because of last year’s stupid greedy bundles from WG, I just wanted the new premium tanks but the company always added gold I didnt needed so they could inflate the prices.

362 here… Including all of these tanks. Like a friend of mine pointed out, how is this actually a good deal? If you have been playing the game this long, odds are, you got these tanks already. He has got a point, I think. These are not rare tanks for old users. The tanks you get for playing a year or two are even recent gift tanks. I would have expected you to be a trad more critical about it, actually.

    1. 333 here since this morning ;-). But got all of these and still think this is an idiot offer. 100 EUR offer to get a low tier light? Only if you use that amount of gold it makes sense to buy.

  1. Piledriveryatyas says:

Bummer. I have them all. I agree with you about the mini maus. Power creep has made it far less OP and more broken.

  2. wheeledtank says:

Of those 4, I think the LTP is the best. I call it “Little Tank of Power.” One of the best gift tanks they gave out. Toldi is nice, but LTP edges it out

  3. I would have if the rewards added up. My account exists since 2012 and I’d want the FCM, not the tier 2 that gets set higher than tier 3s in team lists and seems useless when you consider the sealclubbers full of gold… Meh, too bad.

  4. thesherbet says:

The fact that they are giving the oldest members a tank that can be bought in the premium shop for £4.50 right now, and that isn’t that great, is a bit ridiculous. I would’ve been almost tempted if the FCM was the freebie for the oldest lot but this is a little bit stupid.

    1. thesherbet says:

Also, someone needs to have a word with their marketing department, because the 5 new bundles aren’t as obviously good as they actually are. At no point in the announcement did they mention that you are actually getting the 2.5k gold and the bonus missions for free with the tank at a normal price. But since they don’t tell anyone then it’s unlikely that they’ll sell anywhere near as many.

The even was already ove by the time the first reply was made : 2 April at 7:00 CEST.

“Don’t wait around – this offer is only available from 1 April at 7:10 CEST (UTC+2) to 2 April at 7:00 CEST.”

    1. piledriveryatyas says:

Any chance it was just an April fools joke? Since, after all, their anniversary isn’t until next week?

Posted a day after, like the bundle was avaible…
Pz II. D is one of the most broken tank in the game. Cant pen the 80%of tier 2 tanks in the side, with prem ammo…
    LTP, Fcm is ok.
38H was one of the best, but today is just OK too…

    1. Renarde Martel says:

Pz 2 D can pen just fine, Pz 2 J uses the same gun a tier higher and even fights tier 4s with it. The problem is the speed is not great and the armour blows as well.

      1. Well PzII J is known for requiring 2/3 of its ammo loadout premium. You know, the tank that is available in 100€ packages, also requires 50k credits to run, and is useful toptier only (cant die but can hardly kill as well).
My Cruiser II loves oneshoting these.

      2. Renarde Martel says:

Can’t reply directly Speedy, so I hope you still see this:

I have a Pz II J. I run less than 50% gold on it (250 AP / 150 APCR) and do just fine. The II J is also a tier higher and super slow. On tier 2 the gun is adequate, and can definitely pen the sides of 80% of the tanks it meets with gold, which is the point. Hell, I manage to pen tanks with my T7CC, which has 27mm pen and nothing but AP.

  7. x says:

Shitty package with really retarded conditions… Not good for collectors if they want a specific tank, not good for the average scrubs.

    1. I know shade…I’ve been literally recked, wanted to put this one up sooner but couldn’t. Taking as much rest as possible so next week I’m back on tracks.

  8. septfox says:

PzIID was the worst gift tank they ever put out : \
The LTP was alright, something of a poor-man’s T-127. Like a lot of low-tier armored tanks, they’ve both suffered a lot from power-creep.
The FCM is an unfortunate victim of both WG’s crusade against clear firing lines and the dumb map limitation crap from a while back.
    Micro-Maus: see also: LTP/T-127.

  9. That FCM PaK is absurdly OP, that’s even why they removed it from the store. Good job though, Wargaming, milking expensive OP premium tanks yet again… (Anyone remember the “HEY GUYS, WE’RE REMOVING THE E-25 BECAUSE IT’S OP, SO EVERYONE COME BUY IT QUICKLY!” nonsense?)

  10. James K says:

dont need the gold have 30+k sitting around and already have almost all the prems not gonna spend $$ on this package.

  11. killswitch95 says:

Heres to hoping the NA server will be “Joined before april 2013, and won 5 battles? heres your free mini maus” that’ll go great with the “german-french” tank collection I have of the FCM 36 PaK 40, LeFH18B2, Pz. B2, and Pz S35… just missing the Pz 38H…

    1. Same here! That’s what I am hoping for. I ALMOST bought the M3 Light since it is kinda “rare” but I figured nah since it has been for sale quite a few times recently.

  12. Dreadmoth says:

Asia server has a pair of $100 bundles being sold from 1st – 8th April:

    BT-SV and Pz.Kpfw. IV Hydrostat + 2x Garage Slots + 25,000 Gold
    Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. J and Pz.Kpfw. IV Hydrostat + 2x Garage Slots + 25,000 Gold

The KV-220 and M4A2E4 are also being sold in separate $50 bundles, also ending on the 8th.

  13. marianr87 says:

I have all these tanks. I just won a code for the micromaus this week from the Chieftain’s stream. Rita you were there.
Even if I didn’t have it, I still wouldn’t buy the pack, it’s too rich for my blood.
You’re right about it, except for the very first game I had in it in which I dominated, the rest were not that great. There are vehicles at tier 2 and 3 that can pen it while it side scrapes and kill it in 2 shots.I’ve also kept the H35 French tank, not much difference between the 2, armor, gun or speed wise.

I agree about all the tanks, except the assessment for the Pz II D is wrong. That tank is crap :))
It’s slow and its gun can’t pen most of the tanks it meets, except using gold and even then it struggles.

Power creep has leveled the playing field at lower tiers lately, less tanks feel extremely OP, which is a good thing I guess. For some reason I saw quite a few Pz II Js recently and I was surprised that most of them got destroyed in the first minutes of the game, they’re not at all the beasts I thought they were.

  14. ManfredtheLast says:

I don’t see why everyone is hating on the Pz.II D. I love mine and don’t have to use that much gold ammo at all

  15. On NA at least, I remember referring to the 38H as the “Micro Maus”, and the VK4502B was the “Mini Maus”. Power creep destroyed the 38H a long time ago.
