Portuguese Shermans

Here’s a small clip of the Lisbon’s Regimento Cavalaria 7, 1961.
One of the strongest Portuguese armoured Regiments and 1 of the 3 regiments that initially defended the government during the 25 of April revolution in 1974.

    Really neat footage!

I visited Lisbon in winter last year and paid a visit to the Jerónimos Monastery where this was filmed. Crazy to see how little it’s changed. Also caught a glimpse of the outside of the Museu do Combatente (including the memorial wall and tomb), but was not fortunate enough to visit the inside. Just a great city overall, honestly

  2. a bit of the Portuguese army tank history:
    Vickers 6-ton/Mark E
    M3 and M5 Stuart
    Sherman and Grizzly
    Cromwell and Centaur
    M60A3 TTS
    Leopard 2A6

to complement they used a bunch of different types of armored cars, many of them from the French Panhard company

Technically those are Grizzly’s (Canadian-built M4A1s). You can tell because of the all-metal CDP tracks and the Canadian drive sprocket.
