    To be fair, for an infantryman of the time, a tank looks like a tank. Even tankers had difficulties distinguishing between different tanks. Why there were some many reports of Tigers, when they were in fact PzIV’s with the spaced armour around the turret, or thought that anything that shot at them was an 88. The M18 Hellcat wasn’t liked originally by some of the regiments that first got them, as it had a muzzle break and large road wheels, and so looked like German tanks. This is why all allied tanks had massive white stars paints on the sides and the engine deck, so there wouldn’t be (at least fewer) instances of friendly fire.

    BTW, love Slip’s vids, but this is just how my mind works, I go off on tangents all the time.

      I bet it would be the same today. E.g. if Germany fought against France, how many people would distinguish between Leopards and Leclercs?
