VK.168.01 (P)

Good day everybody,

Back from testing in may, this new German superheavy premium will be apparently added to the game files with 9.20. No real word for when it will be on sale, but it’s well on the way. For a giant slab of steel, it kind of looks neat, the bike is a nice touch:

Oh look, another heavily armoured premium that people can just get with money. I wonder where WG got the idea from…

      1. Matthew Shine says:

You mean the cupola? Because, you know… cupola’s are always weak spots these days, rightt?

      2. Kulingile says:

I seriously doubt that the cupola will be a weak spot.

        VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A cupola:
160-212mm, if you hit it very low, centered or to the right.
        255-330mm otherwise

        VK 100.01 (P) cupola:
        220-280mm

        VK 45.02(P) Ausf. B cupola:
        165-330mm

        Mauschen cupola:
        240-260mm

        Pz.Kpfw. VII cupola:
        130mm center and very low
        250+mm otherwise

        Chrysler GF cupola:
        233-300mm

        T26E5 cupola:
        231-244mm very low
        290-340mm otherwise

Allmost all the “nation” special premiums have some eastern eggs.
      The Defender has a harmonica.
The Liberte has a Vietnamese hat.
      Both on backside of turret.
      The Skorpion has poster inside.

Therefore this bike etc. indicates that this is such a “nation” special premium.

So one more tank that the poor old t32 is going to struggle against frontally? The vk100 is the same way, the weak spot being a lower plate you still need god’s own damage roll to pen. Heavies are supposed to be able to slug it out, but it seems non gold ones are becoming more and more obsolete.

WG Logic… (hahah I said WG and Logic in the same thought) T8 HTs get more view range, better guns…. than T10 Lts. All because the “community of crybabys” thought the T10 MTs would become useless.

  3. apache1990 says:

Lower plate isn’t really a weak spot on this one, but unlike the VK100.01P, you can actually penetrate the cupola more reliably without premium ammo (cupola armor is 150mm, instead of 220mm).

The good thing is, it doesnt seem to one-up the defender, as this thing is at least not better than its regular counterpart, the VKP. Basically, the same gun, slightly worse armor… but comically slow! A HP-Ton ratio of under 5 means this tank wont get anywhere useful… the VKP already struggles with that and that one ways 30 tons less and has double the specific horse power. While the armor will again royally screw lower tiers, this thing will be a drag to play and probably useless as bottom tier.

At least they did not give it a 750 alpha gun as they once proposed. On the other hand I have no idea why anybody would want to play this thing in its current state.

One thing I learned from my past purchases:
If you want a good credit making tier 8 premium, get one which is actually quite mobile.

This thing here will be absolutely useless if you drive to the wrong side at the start of the match where there are no enemies. Your team will get wiped out and later you will be surrounded by multiple mediums / scouts simultaneously.

The best premiums I have to make credits are the Strv S1, the M41 90mm and the Skorpion (I do not have the Patriot, Liberte or Defender). Being able to relocate fast and pick the fights you want and can have success at is much more important than having armor or the best gun.

This tank seems absolutely boring to me. It will be so slow that it’s a very situational tank, e.g. you depend on luck.

I hate luck. I want to win because of what I do in a match. Not because RNG is with me for the chosen map, matchup and if there will be enemies where I crawl with a snail like it would be with this VK168.

    My 2 cents.

  6. Another useless fantasy tank,
so slow it will likely be a pain in most of the matches, little chance of reaching the spot where the battle rages in time
    My 2 cents

I just can bring myself to sell the KV5. It was ONCE… a fun tank to play… now its “AIDS” as Foch would say. Se should start a movement.. #KV5’sMatter

  7. dimo says:

the next pointless clone of Maus on tier 8 (the unplayable tier)…btw i think the tier 9 Mauschen should be removed from tech tree or become premium…its boring to see too much of these super-heavis, the good old Maus lost its uniqueness… VK 100.01 should be tier 9 on its place, buffed ofcourse, ascending from Tiger II and VK 45.02 A

  8. Nicolai says:

This is tank is far far far away from OP. Is the slowest tank i ever seen, a magnet for arty. It has very bad mobility. Even if the armour is very good, the other drowbags are too bad. Is just anormal tank. Btw, i like the bike 🙂
