VK 30.01 (P) HD Model Explained

Hello,

after I posted the 9.15 HD models I’ve noticed many of you arguing and sending PMs and Emails about the VK 30.01 (P) turret so I went to check it out, what you are seeing its actually its stock turret, the Porsche Typ 100 and not much has changed in the vehicle.

Note: From all the 9.15 HD models that WG released so far, only the VK 30.01 (P) and the BT-7 came with stock turrets, reasons unknown.

I even took some screenshots for you:

Also, the stock turret is historical (although never mounted), this is the HD model compared to the images that can be found in “Tigers I and II and their variants, the Spielberger German armor and military vehicle series” by: Walter J. Spielberger, and Hilary L. Doyle:

Dank je wel Ferry Groot for sending the photos!

Hope this sated your curiosity. 🙂

  1. I knew there was validity in that turret.

All we need now is that VK 36.01 H should get a turret that was similar to the Tiger I. For some reason it’s mounting a H2 turret that was made for the Tiger I to make it cheaper to produce and to mount the 75mm L/70.

    I might be wrong.

    1. Douglas Edsal says:

The whole reason the Tiger I hull was designed was because the VK 3601 was too narrow to fit a turret mounting an 88mm. Even the H2 turret is pushing it beyond the realms of realistic, so no, I don’t think you’ll ever see the Tiger turret on the VK 36

    2. cwjian90 says:

The Tiger I turret would not have fit on the VK 36.01 (H), this is one of the reasons why the side hull sponsons were added to the 36.01 (H) when it became the 45.01 (H).

The Ausf. H2 turret is just there to give it other options than the stock turret, similar to why the 30.01 (H) can also use the 36.01 (H) turret.

  2. It should also be noted that they technically switched the top turret. Before, it was very similar (at least, appearance-wise) to the Tiger’s standard turret, but now, it’s very similar (if not the same) to the Tiger P’s stock turret (with the little band running across the roof). Weirdly, the mantlet armor seems to be even more effective than the Tiger P’s, however…
