WG’s Head of Community Management Message

Hello,

Florian or “Njial”, the EU’s Head of Community Management has a message to finalise the recent drama:

“Hello all, we wanted to share an update with you on the recent incident with SirFoch

“We at Wargaming have further reviewed the incident of last Friday involving SirFoch and his “Chrysler K GF rant” video, and we believe we could have handled the situation better. We strongly support our players’, including our Community Contributors’, right to speak critically about us and our games. At the same time, in the case of our Community Contributors, we ask that negative comments be made in a reasonably respectful, constructive manner, and SirFoch’s video didn’t do that. In turn, we acted too quickly when we threatened to have YouTube remove SirFoch’s video through a copyright infringement complaint. We have apologized to SirFoch for making that threat, and we are continuing our conversation with him on next steps.

We’re committed to doing a better job on this front. We’re going to improve the way we communicate with our Community Contributors, and as part of that effort we will work with them on more detailed, specific guidelines for our Community Contributors to help ensure incidents like this don’t happen again. We’ll also be implementing a more thorough internal review process of our own potential actions which will be used in any future case where we have concerns that a Community Contributor has crossed the line in the language they use.

We love our players and our contributors – even the ones who don’t always love us – and we are committed to using this case to grow and improve.”

  1. it’s all well and good for the Head of Community to have a “message to finalise the recent drama”…

but a message doesn’t finalise anything. Changing their design principles of OP premiums and removal of frontal weakspots and actually addressing premium ammo (like people have wanted for years) would be finalising it.

That’s the root cause of this whole “drama” and is by no means a recent event, until the initial issue is addressed then there is no end to this

    1. Marc Schreiber says:

The “root cause” is actually a lot more complicated. A company like WG priority should be to make revenue out of WoT; if you like it or not. One source is premium tanks. I believe that players like to buy “the good ones” over the “bad”, because we all like to win. This drives the stats for premium tanks up, the better the tank, the more are sold.

With the recent amount of new premiums and their stats I think we are reaching a point that this sales model seems to be limited. Ask yourself, how many premium does a player need ? I have a lot of them, but I am not intending to buy any new ones soon.

Gold ammo (hence selling premium time) might have a small effect and I wonder if WG is selling more premium time and gold shells.

      So what are the options:
      – find another payment model (cool skins, cool gimmicks for your tank, personal base with benefits, premium crew, premium maps, pay to win? There are lots of options here.)

It is intrested to see that the new regular tanks introduced need more credits, more unique modules and exp than the old ones needed. Also tanks are over buffed and nerfed a year later. Premium because a must for playing higher tier as you like to progress fast as the average Jo.

      – Start over; WOT 2.0; with havok, hd graphics, new maps

What if WG would announce WOT 2.0, It would sure lead to an outrage. But not if you make a second tank game coexisting beside WOT; lets call it Universe of Tanks; Which holds all the benefits from WoT and improve on things the players complain about.

      – limit delevopment

Not likely anytime soon, but we already see a decline in map adjustments and new maps. Although they work on “something new”

      1. I agree with you there

On a side note, myself and more then likely a lot of other players, would certainly pay for a “premium crew” if they could use it in any tank that match the nation and class. If I could have 1 crew for my seven American TDs I would be a happy man.

I think people would also jump at the opportunity for a sort of “half premium” status where they could spend credits (temporary) or gold (permanent) on a regular tank to give it benefits between a regular tank and a premium tank.

    1. BattleBudgie says:

Yea ’cause nowadays throwing a tantrum and yelling “fuck you fuck you fuck you” classifies as free speech. The world is getting more retarded by the day.

      1. Yeah but a Copyright strike its made to take down videos for copyright issues and illegal use of content.
        NOT TO SILENCE ANYBODY.

        Dont be an idiot ffs.

      2. BattleBudgie says:

Calm your tits. If someone is being a massive dick and also refuses to at least apologize for it, eventually they will be forced to shut up one way or another. In this case Foch refused to take the vid down so he left no other choice for WG than pulling the copyright card. As for that, I don’t really care about the method since I think the action was justified. Foch may be right about the recent premium tank policy (he is) but if he can’t discuss the matter in a civilized manner he shouldn’t be surprised about WG taking action against him. I’m with WG on this one, the guy had it coming.

    2. real_toothdecay says:

Minsk thinks they can. Yeah, a lot less &****^ and (*^^&^^ and it might even been overlooked. But threatening him because they didn’t like HOW he expressed his views is very despotic of them. But, it IS Minsk, after all.

  2. docbassie says:

Well atleast they are taking steps to fix things, thats a good sign.
Let’s hope they take their lessons from this.

  3. VladCelTroll says:

As long as they continue to release OP premiums, then all the words above are useless. No wonder a salty guy like Foch got that mad. At this point, their excuses are little more than just a formality. Excusing for what? For threatening with copyright strikes and removing his CC status for some bullshit reason?

This is why I’ve already left the game. I sometimes play with my fellow clanmates but, really, it’s not a fun game anymore. It ain’t fun when some bobtard starts to shoot gold at you and negate your armor or get derped to death by some invisible anime heavy. That sort of fun that most of us, the old players, used to have has disappeared thanks to your moronic decisions.

I bet you they will continue doing this sort of shit. As long as you’re not kissing their asses and pay to actually win, the game isn’t worth it. This is especially a warning for any new player. (just FYI, I’ve been playing since 2013, so not that old of a player but certainly not too new).

    1. Thaldor says:

This is also what I’m waiting. Do we need another round around the track to get WG apologise for their earlier (at least for now) even more public statement?

Or are we satisfied with “We don’t think it was appropriate in language or tone for a Community Contributor video (SirFoch) but we’re not standing by those claims.”?

As Jim said: “They’re very quick to change a tune.” (https://twitter.com/JimSterling/status/866727920202641408) And what I think, a bit more push and we get a nice real public apology for SirFoch from Wargaming framing him homophobic hate speaker in a hurry to give something to press.

  4. Anonymous says:

So they say: sorry, they say: we love you, but they love money even more, so there is YES for P2W regular/premium tanks in the game. They didn’t learn a think!

  5. Phat_Buddah says:

Omg. Some people in this comments make it a internal game of NOT read all and by definition NOT have a clue or missing big part. of this history.

I Salute to all for closing in under proper conversations with good and normal polite manors, rage and frustrations may all have, but the more responsibillity the bigger is the backfire, thats the crack, but to realize any kinda misshappening and then talk about them like normal people does, and willing to fix them, thats Diplomacy, for that i salute this step.

It´s several points in this affair, and for me to point them up here is just missuse of space, since a lot of people dont even bother to read all comments and/or getting other info, before the start racking down right and left, for you i can just say, start read all or not read at all.

For those who read all and gather more info from other channels for i say, you know what i talking about.

Thank you and have the best out there folks.

  6. Steve says:

So all the WG statement does is to keep the focus on SirFoch rather than addressing the premium tank problem that he was ‘ranting’ about. Nice sidestep WG, I’m sure you have a tidy office with everything being swept under the carpet.

  7. LeeRoy says:

Believe it or not, this whole tumult has nothing to do with premium tanks it has everything to do with threatening a takedown notice on YouTube. some Community manager guy threaten somebody directly and now the whole company is in a crazy damage control mode when it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. somebody should be fired.

  8. Berto says:

and, anyway, Sir F. used wrong words, but he have perfectly right about Chrysler K GF and WG premium policy

  9. Phat_Buddah says:

People, leave your frustration and useless curses outside this, if you have some constructiv chritisim or what ever you find it worth for others to read, please present it better wrapped than kindergaden-level-kinda-nonsence, you only lever your own comments down the drain. Thank you.

  10. Steve says:

Ph3lan needs to be fired immediately and SirFoch fully reinstated (if he even has any desire to continue associating with this garbage company). Anything less is unacceptable, and shows WG’s lack of sincerity.

    1. CC for swearing at the company in an unpolite way…. Riiight.

Removing CC was justified, I mean if you were in WG’s shoes, would you place a guy slagging off your company, justified or not in that manner, as what is basically a representative of the company? Absolutely not!

Threatening DCMA tho? That’s over the line.

  11. Anonymous says:

So Jingles just resigned his CC status basically because of the Kotaku article and WG NA might strike him anyway despite WG EU’s assurances that they won’t.

  12. Wanderjar says:

So Jingles just resigned CC status because of WG NA’s article on kotaku. just because WG EU won’t strike him, WG NA might despite reassurances from EU’s head of Community. (cuz global corp).

    WP WG…

  13. “We love our players and our contributors – even the ones who don’t always love us – and we are committed to using this case to grow and improve.”

has long we players are in you`re good graces and keep paying for content

  14. Nevermind says:

Sorry to say but that is still a load of horse shit! If they “loved our players” they would not insult them and disrespect them buy putting such a tank in the game. Its a damn shame to see greed totally dominate the game. what ever happened to producing a quality product?

  15. Burocracy says:

he did not state that the company will not use a DMCA threat, so not only this is not a “finalizing” comment, it leaves me with more question than answers.

  16. Hans_von_Twitchy says:

Florian’s apology was certainly more professional than the earlier pathetic attempts by WG Euro and NA. However, Florian did not say anything at all about what put SirFoch on tilt: WG’s rampant greed.

WG is incapable of learning the real lesson.

Because WG will continue to deluge us with OP Prems, and will no doubt think of other ways of extracting more $$$ from us (I fear what Bonds will become), I’m confident that SirFoch has just been the first of several WoT commentators who will lose their tempers with WG’s naked greed. More youtubers will express their displeasure (in vernaculars appropriate to each of them), and WG’s very fragile ego will no doubt result in more blackmail threats and dishonest personal attacks.

We all know that WG is a very dishonest company, is ridiculously quick to anger, and is very arrogant. We also know that WG’s current short-term greed strategy is harming the game. These issues have just caused one explosion, and I’m sure are going to cause a lot more before WG kills the game.
