WoT: 9.22 Supertest Notes

Good day everyone,

As we all know, WoT will finally be moving to 1.0 later this year, but before that we will have one more patch: 0.9.22. Here are the notes as the update goes into testing:

Main Changes:

Improvements to the Matchmaker

  • The improvements to the matchmaker will ensure more even distribution among the battle types enabled by players (Standard Battle, Attack/Defense, Encounter Battle, Grand Battle). The battle type selector will consider the history of the player’s previous battles. The Grand Battles will not come in a succession.

Improvements to the Vehicle Customization

  • The lower panel of the customization interface will contain the Applied sign for elements that are applied to the vehicle.
  • Increased the clickable spots for the Emblems and Inscriptions.

Changes to the Ranked Battles

Changes in the new season:

  • Now a season will last 21 days and is not divided into stages

  • Increased the number of ranks from 5 to 15
  • Reworked the conditions of earning chevrons:
    • The top 10 players on the winning team and the top player on the losing team will receive 1 chevron
    • The top 3 players on the winning team will receive 1 additional chevron
    • Players who took places 11-15 on the winning team and places 2-5 on the losing team will retain a chevron
    • Players who took places 6-15 on the losing team will lose a chevron
  • Added new functionality: rank shield. Some ranks will be “shielded”. The shield will have a particular number of durability points that will be deducted after a defeat or victory (if the player enters the prize zone).
  • Reworked the interface of the main screen in the Ranked Battles for proper display of information about 15 ranks
  • Reworked the interface of the rewards for the ranks and season. It can be entered from the main screen and includes:
    • Information about the rewards for each rank
    • Information about the rewards for the season
  • Changed the art of the vehicle ranks: they were replaced with the rank points. The principle of earning rank points remained unchanged.
  • Removed the display of the vehicle ranks from the vehicle panel; the vehicle ranks were replaced with rank points in the vehicle statistics.
  • Reworked the progress interface of vehicle ranks: upon reaching the maximum rank players will be able to see the number of the earned rank points in the Garage.

Improvements to the Stronghold Mode

  • In Skirmishes and Advances, the battle room commander can select a player who will use the Combat Reserves (Airstrike and Artillery Strike); it can be any player of the detachment, including the legionnaires. The player becomes the Forward Observer and uses the reserves in battle.

So they’re actually going through with the 263 changes??? I thought they’d agreed a while back that it was a pretty bad idea… Also, what on earth will follow on from the T-10?? Obj 777?

    1. Kyros says:

The plan was to make Obj.268 v4 another 750dmg Tier10 TD. This was changed to a faster shooting 650dmg. SU-122-54 will be removed from game and later added as Tier8 premium TD.

Thank God they try to fix mm but I have a huge complain! I went down the obj416 in order to get both the 430 and the 140 and now I can get none….. Soooo i must regrind from the t34 85 AGAIN? Shouldn’t players that have the obj 416 get a t44 to continue their grind?

    1. Seth H says:

I wouldn’t call what they are doing with MM a fix, just a tweak. Adding balancing players based on rating/stats to MM is a fix.

As for your question about 416, we haven’t been told what will happen when players have it. The 416 will still lead to the 430. If you have the 430II or the T54 unlocked, you are set for those lines after the move.

      1. Anonymous says:

The thing is I can unlock either the t54 or the 430 ii with the xp I have and then the line will be cut so I have to make a choise… And I want to unlock both.

      2. Zbyszko says:

You still have month left, if U want both from 416 you need to finish yor grind before the patch goes live. They won’t give u T-44 for free, because T-54 is not origanlly intended to be researched from 416, it’s just additional possibility

  3. Anonymous says:

It is funny to see how some of the worst tanks tier for tier in the game stayed untouched. For example: Black Prince didn’t get it’s well needed buff even though they changed tier 8,9 and 10 in the line. Same goes with A-44 here. I was waiting for them to buff it so that grinding it doesn’t feel so punishing. But hey, ‘gotta free xp that shit, spend some gold, am I right?’

    1. Anonymous says:

No tanks 7 and down have been touched and all will be reworked at once after all the 8-10s are rebalanced according to what they have said before

    1. Seth H says:

They are holding off on the T10’s Tier X tank until a later time, maybe 1.0? They state above that they will be adding the Obj430U, which is the tier X for the 430II.
“Object 430У (replaces the Object 430 at Tier X)”

  4. Anonymous says:

so….. they are still adding the Object 268 version 4?????? wasn’t there on a different post something about the plan being wiped out of the know reality

    1. Seth H says:

Doesn’t matter what they do with the mixture of tanks if they don’t include balancing of players based on their PR/stats, there will still be a ton of lopsided wins/losses.

      1. Q says:

They could do both ;-), but I think they said long ago that skill based MM is a no-no (not sure though, don’t quote me on that).

The issues with MM are… well… more complex:
        1) In the game not all players have equal conditions – some have stock tanks, some have 50% crew, some have 5+ skill crew fully upgraded tank. This has nothing to do with skill, I can buy a premium tank to train a crew, grind it for couple of hundred games with reserves during x3 crewXP weekend… I will still suck at the game but this will give me an edge over someone who might be better but he will be in a worse vehicle. Should the stats of the tank/crew be taken into consideration?
        2) This brings us to the game balance as a whole. With unnerfable (is that even a word?) premium tanks and premium ammo which some players use exclusively while others would not touch it with a 20ft pole (whatever their reasons might be), this game is nearly impossible to balance within one tier. Not to mention the +-2 we have now.
        3) Platoons – I play with my friends who are better than me, how would platooning work? Use the highest MMR/Elo/rating from the platoon to find a game? The lowest? Average maybe? What about multiple platoons in one game – that could really mess things up.
        4) In any skill based MM people will naturaly converge to 50% winrate since they are playing against people of similar skill level. Some people are against this because they would lose their 60% WR. And their precious WN8 since they won’t have access to “tomatos” to farm damage. And their opinion has higher value because they are better at the game, right? Food for thought: if you are that good you should not be scared to lose your rating.
        5) “Then the bad people would only play against bad people and the would not learn anything!” I would like to talk to the “person zero” who came up with this crap. Games are supposed to be FUN. If you want to be a pro player, sure, you have to work hard to be good. If you don’t want to… then you just want to have fun. Ever went out to play football with some friends? Do you play it be as good as Messi or Ronaldo or do you try to balance teams out to have fun? So just let us bad players play in the mud. We will have fun and enjoy the game.

I think I had a number 6 as well… Oh well, maybe next time, my old and tired mind requires some rest. I will give you TLDR at least.

TL;DR: The game is imbalaced by design, to get fair and balanced matches would require way more than just the use of WN8 / personal rating. And WG won’t do it because V.K. needs a new helicopter to transport his new car to his new yacht.

It still annoying to see the 263 switch is happening.

On the other hand, I can’t wait for the other changes to the Russian tech tree.

  6. Snow says:

Looks like the idiots over at WG are going to listen to their “statistics” more then the voice of their players. Typical.
Just leave the OBJ. 263 alone WG!

    1. Anonymous says:

I dont know what statistics they are looking at. The 263 from what i heard performs superb and they shouldn’t tell any different to what the players say.

    1. Lightball20 says:

They gave free tanks when they removed Tier 10s from the game. No Tier 10s were removed. Only a single Tier 9 that they claim no one really seems to like based on their stats so they are just nixing it. With the possibility of it being down tiered to a Tier 8 premium later possibly.

Its more likely they don’t want to nerf Tier 10s far enough to make them useable as Tier 8 premium but its easier to do that to a Tier 9.
FV4202 doesn’t count because it was extremely buffed past its real version to be useable for a Tier 10.

    1. Seth H says:

They are not removing it from the tech tree, they are removing it from Tier X and putting it at Tier 9 where the SU-122-54 is. The question for those that have it is, what will happen with the SU-122-54? Will it still be in garage or will they take it away and then give it back later as a freemium?

  7. Anonymous says:

What I got from this is, “Screw user feedback!” And a new Russian tier 10 medium after the 430 version 2. Probably a rear turret :0

  8. dennisevlogiev says:

this will force me to get rid of one of my favorite tanks(SU-100M1) because I hate how they ruined the line I stop grinding it
    PS it was fun

  9. Nameless says:

Wargaming office: “These damn shits! They don’t know what they talking about! The 263 branch modifications is gud.” “Da komrade, but gib me vodka nau!”
    In their eyes, it’s:
    Wargaming: 1
    Dem scrubs: 0

Once again, proving that they do whatever the fuck they like. It’s useless to even complain right now. Boycotting would be useless since much of their income is from the RU playerbase (which, amyway, I think hates us all others).

Congratulations, WG. You were smart enough to fool many people into believing your lies. But one’s vile will inevitably turn against themselves.

  10. Anyone says:

Improvements to the MM … haha great joke WG unless you balance teams using personal rating, the system will never work right. As for as listening to player feedback… WG has always given a big fat middle finger to the players. Why not make the SU 122-54 to a Tier 8 Premium?
