Good day everyone,

Recently the World of Tanks developers had an open conference to discuss plans for 1.0 and the future of the game. Here’s the newest info:

Preferential MM

  • Preferential MM will continue to slowly be phased out, even with vehicles that already have it. The first planned vehicle will be KV-5. The nature of those changes aren’t worked out yet. Though there will likely be the option for gold compensation or the rebalanced vehicle.
  • On that note, these plans exist only for Tier 8 premium tanks. Lower (and less expensive) tiers will likely have something different happen to them.

 

Crew and Crew UI Changes

  • The developers are working on a new system for some perks. One of these might be a new version of Sixth Sense that works automatically and is already active to a new commander.
  • There are also plans to change up the admittedly terrible crew and barracks UI.
  • In addition to changing skills, WG also want to work on possibilities for transferring the crew from tank to tank.
  • Most of these changes were prompted by the fact that the current crew skill system is pretty monotonous, with only a few essential skills being selected. The exact nature of these changes haven’t been made completely clear.
  • Testing for these changes should start sooner rather than later. A big part of this is communicating these changes to players with highly skilled veteran crews.

1.0 Changes

  • A new version of Personal Missions is set for October of this year.
  • There are talks for the possibility of buying tanks with bonds (there are also plans to introduce more goods in general with bonds as the current selection is pretty limited).
  • There are no plans to revise the formula for earning experience.
  • With WoT 1.0, the option to buy consumables and premium ammo with gold will be removed and the prices of premium ammo will also be adjusted. The next few iterations of Sandbox will test some adjustments to the in-game ammunition economy or even testing entirely new ammunition systems.
  • 1.0 will also see some testing for the removal of team damage, arty included.
  • There are some plans for an extended complaint system and additional dialogue options/compliment system with allies. The return of general chat after these changes was teased.

 

Random Bits

  • The Super Conqueror has been put on the watch list for closer monitoring.
  • No plans on changes to the Type 5.
  • After 1.0 WG will be looking into issues with smaller maps and possibly expanding them.
  • No T67 nerfs planned.
  • WG will release info on the ST-I and IS-4 within the next 6 months.
  • WG has plans for something to replace WarGaming League. News for this should come out at the end of the summer.
  • If issues with Erlenburg can’t be worked out, it will be left completely like Stalingrad.
  • The house in the Redshire capture circle will be removed.
  • WG doesn’t believe there are any major issues with artillery at the moment, but is monitoring theme closely.
  • The M44 is a known problem at Tier 6.
  • There are no plans at the moment for further MM changes, as new rules and restrictions to MM have larger ramifications on the game as a whole, so they need to be carefully considered.
  • Possibilities of a PvE mode are being looked into. In addition, the special modes previously seen will make a return this year starting in May, including football.
  • Server based in-game replays are also being looked into now that they have been made available on WoT Console.
  • Historical Battles will only make a return as a possible PvE mode.
  • The T-22 medium is a closed off topic not available for further discussion.
  • +/- 25% RNG will not change, even the penetration changes introduced in Blitz.
  • Loot boxes will likely make an appearance as rewards for special events.
  • The end of the year will see a loyalty program for long-time players.
  • There are no plans to change the economy of Tier 10.
  • There are plans on creating in-game bots able to accurately mimic the 48% win-rate player for the purposes of testing.
  • Tier 10 tank replacements will calm down as the developers work on the introduction of Italian tanks.

 

Tank Customization

  • This has been broken down into three stages: Stage 1 has already been introduced. Stage 2 will consist of more possibilities for 2D customization and Stage 3 will consist of customizable 3D elements.

    Remove the retarded 3/5/7 battles and make it so there can’t be less than 5 low tiers in a battle, the rest stays random.
    Remove XVM.
    Don’t fuck up the ammo rebalance (wait, who am I even kidding?)

      I don’t get why wg realise their mistake in changing the old MM System of 9.14 and before.. on that 1 mistake they build a big pile of shi* that’s what it is and they ruin their once great game

    Could they have been more vague about Preferential MM? I think now. and in other news… players who would like to see some real game play improvements and a fixed MM can all get fucked! WG wants pretty…

      I think preferential mm can be solved pretty easily. Make it conditional, if you are in t8 with pref mm, make it “a must” to see t7 tanks in battle too. So will it be t6 t7 and t8, or t7 t8, or t7 t8 and t9, make it random. But condition should be there is always some form of t7 tanks in game. When a friend of mine got is6 for a week, we played pref mm tanks, i drove my super pershing, and it was awful. Most of the games were t8 only, or t8 and t9.
      Not a single game was vs t6, from around 150 of games that we played.

        As much as I loved the Pref MM back in the day it should be gone because all it does is harm the MM system. Adding a requirement to see t7 would make the issue worse not better. It should be done away with and I for one will be very happy to play my pref tanks again on an even footing. The IS-6 for example could basically get a small armor buff (+20mm overall would be huge) and better gun stats. Would turn it into quite the powerful tank again.

      They could fix arty, by just remove the retarded stun..
      To nerf the arties this was done:
      The arties have same DPM as before, now they just shoot faster, more precise and gained stun..

        Nobeer, my M40/43 now reload in 39 seconds, instead in 40 seconds. That’s just one second faster reload. DPM isn’t the same – now it makes 100-200 dmg on heavies, making it waste of time to shot heavies at all. And FYI, I have good crew, skill/perk #6 at 53%… gonna are those days when arty can make huge dmg. Now it is good game if I make over 1500 dmg, and haven’t been able to make over 3k (previous could make 4-5k in good battlle).

        On paper the dpm is about the same but the penetration of HE shells are halved. Even the derp gun on the O-ni (witch is tier 7 i think) ha more damage potential then any tier 8 arty.

      More like because their MM couldnt distinguish tanks with and without preferential MM. That means it’s dumping tier 7.5 tanks against tier 8s. Imagine how well would an IS-6 fight against the 252U. Or even IS-6 against IS-M.

      1. even with gold that would be a crappy fight and the accuracy and aim time weakspot sniping would be extremely hard. Still removing and then buffing the previous pref mm seems like the wrong way to go about it.

      Battle tier XII……….THAT is the problem. Since that time, Tier VIII = Fodder. THEY promised it wouldn’t happen. I’ll bet they could make it all better.

    Welp, R.I.P. Derpenberg. Even a fresh coat of paint and major changes couldn’t save you. Oh well.

    I also find it amusing how in one sentence WG says there are no major problems with arty, while in the next sentence they address a problem with an arty (M44). Never change, WG lol

    Also I’m dying for some changes and interesting reworks of the skills system. It’s pretty dull at the moment and I feel like having more skills, particularly skills geared towards particular roles and play styles (think World of Warships) would be a healthy addition to the game. Same goes for equipment, which almost always boils down to vents, gun rammer and optics, give or take specific cases.

    We’ll see what the year brings, eh?

      Come on, could you be more ignorant? They obviously mean that they think the way arty now works, ie lower damage stun effect, is fine but the M44 is OP for its tier.

    1. There was always that minor problem that the Polish simply don’t have any tanks. The only way to get a Polish tree done is to either copy the Russian tree or invent tanks. I suppose somebody with half a brain at WG figured that outside Poland nobody cares overly much for a copy of the Russian tree.

Since when did a lack of tanks stop wg from just bullshitting and making them up, more than half the tanks in wot never ever exsisted and despite the blurb saying exsisted in blueprint only. that is such bollocks. I remember wg said about 2 years ago that a others/united nations tech tree would be added as no other nation had the required amount of tanks to make a complete tech tree.

      Considering how premium tanks cannot be nerfed, adding premium artillery at tier 8 would be a costly mistake since the artillery mechanic is still not set in stone (people thought wargaming was not going to touch arty pre 8.6, but they did and arty players got mad, as well as 9.18; that was without premium arty!).

      I’m pretty sure the question has been asked on RSR (probably a while ago now), but I’d be interested in hearing what wargaming has to say about it again.

Cant be nerfed are you serious play a couple of games in 112 or is6 those things are useless now they rely on armour and only meeting equal or less tiers to dish out damage. 175 pen does fuck all against the vk100p/kv4 let alone a defender.Plus because both of those tanks rely on armour thats okay because all even the derpist of derp players has to do is press the 2 key now he or she cant auto aim through your armour no matter how well angled and slopped yay well done wg. I am not saying you should be unstoppable in a tier 8 prem but it shouldnt be easy for a tier 6 to blast through your armour by merely firing nothing but prem rounds.

        Wargaming has said before they will never sell premium artillery again due to the hotly contested nature of artillery already in the game. I think this is one promise they will not break because the shitstorm it would cause is just not worth it.

      … ho no, what I am saying… WG have a bot detection tool to remove them… and that’s why my ognore list is full of bot players that are still there ven though I put them in the list 3 months ago…

      Its like what the old FV304 did. Has a high RoF and amazing shell arc but since its a much larger shell comes with more dmg and better splash/stun.

They should add actual factor that can lower a shells pen mid flight besides from distance like shell composition, mass, density, things the shells pass through like thick trees, water falls, etc. Environmental factors like wind speed, air pressure, attitude above sea level. The properties of the object it hits like shock resistance, density, mass, composition, etc.

    I seriously don’t understand this need to create a new secondary economy, what would be the point?

    Other than that, it looks like a rather positive update overall.

    1. gold is outdated, then the will also remove prem ammo/consumable for gold, were do you still need gold? Only for support task like retraining, camo or removing modules.
      WG needs a new “gold”, and here are the bonds! I can bet my entire savings that bonds will be buyable in the future!

      1. Don’t underestimate how many players use those options. I know lots of players who use gold for those tasks.

        Also, that still means my point stand. What is the point of replacing it with a new currency if they’re only replacing it with another. That still makes no sense.

        There is something else that WG can do to create better matchmaking. Since WG is already fond of +/- 25% RNG for penetration and damage calculations,.WG could use a similar approach to team composition based on total team experience.
        For example WG can limit the imbalance in the total team
        XTE metric (or some other skill metric) or the XTE metric
        for each tier within a team to +/- x% so you don’t end up
        with current team compositions where you have some
        unicums on one side versus nothing but tomatoes on the other
        side. This would would reduce the type of rofl stomps that
        happen due to team experience imbalances alone and increase
        the number of more closely fought games.

        So unlike a mm solution where you only pair players of a certain experience against others of similar experience (Ranked Battles)
        this is a pseudo random mm that puts a limit on team imbalance versus the current random mm where team imbalance is
        unlimited.

        Skill based match making already is a thing – in Ranked Battles and Clan Wars. But it only attracts a fraction of the player base – neither being appealing enough to the majority. Never is a long time and often proven wrong.

    the whole US Tech Tree is a problem/mess, but I guess they are saying it in the sense of the M44 being OP at tier 6, well, I’m pretty sure they can easily find a replacement for it and maybe even move the M44 to tier 7 or make it a tier 7 premium, which wouldn’t make much sense

    this means the US TT will probably have to wait until 2019 for a proper rework, and yet they said the AGF medium tank will come in 2018, which translates into another Sherman-like premium tank at tier 7 or 8

    Mine November 2017 => february 2018 stats (1130 games T2 T9) : 85.6 % MM-2, 9 % MM-1, 5.4% top tier… but NO problem for WG ?.

    Removing team damage is an extreme idea. I don’t think removing it will improve the game as removing it will not only rid the game of frustrating elements but also of realistic and immersive game elements.

    Tl;Dr: Dumbing down gameplay (by removing team damage) is never a good idea.

    i hope the pref mm tanks will be buffed to be comparable to other same tier tanks *cough* defender and skorp g *cough* so that they can remove the utter garbage called 3\5\7 and +2 mm in general.
    Also to all of talking about arty sentence: They said there’s no MAJOR ISSUE, but they are watching it because there probably is some minor issue.

    Type 5 and T67 totally not overpowered… they are fine.

    Premium ammo change might be interesting, but I fear they will not do what I expect them to do… (lower cost, lower damage)

    Too bad the 25% does not change, damage wise, okay, but the Pen-RNG needs to go imo

    The plans of 48% bots is A) stupid because I know way too many real players who are just absolute trash and have legit 48% and B) wait what? You put bots in our goddamn games? This is giving a whole new meaning to the “shit team”

    T-22 we fuvked up so bad, we are just going to say it never happened.

    Arty no problem at all, play any swede from the medium line tier 2-7 and expect to get onehit by the piggies, I would hope to see a form where when it hits it deals X damage (-25/+25) and if it splashes also X damage. (Example time) Let’s say the M44 did 200 damage when it hit, no matter if it is a maus or a T67 and it did 50 if it splashed, same principle. I think this makes arty more thought out and makes it so that you can say “well, I have 300 health left, I can also take one from arty” and not the feeling you get crapped on for 10 damage or oneshot out of nowhere.

    As I have said many times,the game will be dead by the end of this year and no amount of hd maps will save it…. And i dont consider alive a 15 vs 15 premium bot shitfest where you get clicked by laser guided arty! US server is dead and I bet my ass EU closely follows. Wot will be the example of how a good game got fucked up by a crappy company

    Ohhh YES! I was hoping they would finally rebalance preferencial T8 premiums and give them standard MM. Maybe good old Type 59 will be good again when it gets rebalanced for meeting T10 tanks. Fingers crossed

    Pref MM: Good to see they will offer compensation if the owner if not happy with the changes, but on the other hand I’m not sure I’d like it if my Super Pershing suddenly started seeing tier 10s. We need more information on possible buffs before we can fully remove Pref MM. Curious what they have planned for the lower tier prefs like the two Matildas, the Churchill 3 and Excelsior.

    T67: You’re delaying it why? Fine, but it still needs rebalancing in some way.

    M44: As annoying as the M44 is at times, there are other spgs that need addressing (LeFH)

    Removing Team Damage: I can see this easily exploited. I’ve seen enough videos on Claus Kellerman’s channel to know this won’t go well.

    RNG: Please reduce. I understand the need for RNG but 25% is too much.

    PvE: Looking forward to more options besides the same modes, but just make sure it doesn’t hurt the game like it did to AW.

    * – Use XVM for battles. red players against red players… purple against purple, something like that. Now in Ranked Battle there are so many red players with tier 10 tank, and that is just fine, but BOY DO THEY FACK UP THE GAME!
    * – Lose the 3-5-7, we all hate it.

    * – We need another server, would be great!! Played 3 games tonight and it was full of lagg!!! 90K people online and playing ranked Battles!!! 200ms LAGG!! (maybe 1 server for Polish players ;-))

    Here at WG we don’t acknowledge real issues and we absolutely do not fix these b/c there are no issues (KV-2s snapping 1 shots into targets 400 m away, maps geared towards Russian meds, Russian meds with total fantasy soft stats and performance oh and radio operation by a loader on the OTHER SIDE OF THE TANK).

      I had to laugh out loud when I read 4th point 😀 I am sitting on the train on my way to work 😀

      Premium ammo.. Well…I though I could get the type 5 and then do the missions with blocking damage and stuff… What i didn’t think about – gold ammo. No matter how I angle my tank, even meds just shoot where they want and they penetrate me.

      Reduce alpha by 30% or 50% and leave the plus on pen.
      This game is not fun anymore when armor doesn’t mean shit.

    I hope they’l reduce the gold ammo damage too. Have a broken penetration who cares as long as it wont deal as many damage as a normal round thus simply better version of ammo.

    Type5: has less pen thqn the tier 6 kv-2… C’mon, at least raise it to 90mm, to be somewhat competitive. Parallel remove premium shell bonus damage and make it to an AP shell, with 150 pen.

    Pref mm: The type 59 became a pain in the new mm. Usually full tier 8 against super op prem tanks, or tier 8-9, where the case even worse. Pref Mm need need to be removed, type has to be buffed seriously (agility and a minimal pen, dpm and accuracy, with a bit of added front armor)

    M44: An arty who still oneshots tanks, usually sweden tier 6 meds. Those who have those already knows… Meanwhile a tier 10 bc arty does does the same damage in lights, less in meds and often 0 in heavies. This is crap too. If arties cant be balance, remove them with compensation.
